How did your love for KPOP start?

Oliver

For me It was Tell Me by Wonder Girls.. I thought it was so stupid at first and kept making fun of it.. but secretly I was enjoying it.. So i kept following them and that lead me to Super Junior and then Big Bang & 2PM and that is how my Obsession started..

How about you..

  • How did you first "discover" kpop?
  • What was your impression of it at first?
  • How do you feel about it now looking back?

my first song was Big Bang's Haru Haru. I thought it was a pretty good song and ended up getting pulled into more Kpop. however, my first fandom was Super Junior

thinking back about it I had such an embarrassing phase when I first started lol

I first discovered it a 4 years ago after seeing several people compare kpop to jpop on youtube videos so I was curious and looked it up. I can't remember which video I watched but obviously it didn't impress me because I didn't come back to it until 2 years later when my cousin showed me a bunch of groups and then became a fan.

My first kpop video was super girl by suju-m and I saw the video while eating mc donalds in times square (they project MVs on the brick wall) way back in 2009. I thought they were chinese singers lol (well they were singing in chinese) and I looked them up on youtube and then I watched more related videos and that's pretty much it. f(x) is the only reason I stay in the kpop community tho tbh. Now looking back, Suju-m must have been pretty popular to play in Mc donalds in times square. Thats like the biggest Mcdonalds in nyc.

Irony by the Wonder Girls came out and my older brother was obsessed with the song (and Hyuna and Sohee) and all I listened to was the Korean Hip-Hop scene and my grandmother's trot so then I LOVED Irony and the Wonder Girls and then I became more and more into K-Pop.

How did you first "discover" kpop?

- I discovered it from an X-Men RP forum where this girl used HyunA as her character's model. She posted a vid of Hot Issue and I instantly got addicted. 4Minute became my ultimate Stan until I came across SNSD months later.

What was your impression of it at first?

-I loved it. I felt like I found something that was amazing and enjoyable. Music that fit my standards in a way.

How do you feel about it now looking back?

-I feel the same way. I will say that my love has went down a bit since I've got more into it. I think it was a lot better before KPOP Forums and "stanning" and sales and stuff. Best to be just a music lover without all of the extra to it.

My first impression was terrible bc of the rabid fans. People were going off on Kingsley for not using the GG version of Run Devil Run as the background track on one of his videos, it was ridiculous. I went and watched the video myself and forgot about k-pop for a while until I accidentally came across a remix of "I Need a Girl" and I've been a proud VIP ever since. <3

My first exposure to K-Pop was when I came across some MBLAQ videos like 4 years ago. I liked them but not enough to check out other K-Pop songs. I thought the sets and videos were lavish and it was strange for me to see guys wearing such obvious makeup (lol). I didn't get into K-Pop fully till mid-2012 though.

  • I was watching some Jrock/visualkei videos and Rising Sun (TVXQ) start to autoplay. That was in 2008
  • I love it. I remember re-play the song many times. I get obssesed specially with the one who make the high note/screams
  • Great. I mean TVXQ until now is my fav group/duo and Changmin is my fav singer and bias.

How did you first "discover" kpop?

I stumbled upon 2NE1/Big Bangs 'Lollipop' a few years ago.

What was your impression of it at first?

Too many fucking colours.

How do you feel about it now looking back?

Nothing really, forgot all about kpop for a couple of months and then discovered SNSD and the rest is history.

I had just bought a Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I launched the YouTube app, surfed the music section because I'm a music junkie, and I landed on 2NE1's dance practice for "I Am The Best". The rest is history -- I've been hooked ever since.

That was almost 3 years ago.

First Impression: I don't understand the lyrics, but this song is catchy as fuck!

I think it was through a brief stint in j-pop I came across Rising Sun by DBSK. I can't remember how exactly, but I liked it and listened to it for a while.
What was your impression of it at first?

I checked out other songs of DBSK I think, but RS was my favourite and I didn't really think about k-pop or other groups or even wonder how the rest of korean music sounded like. I moved on quickly to k-dramas (this was my main interest at the time as I was venturing from J-dramas to K-dramas) so most Korean music I listened to from then on were OSTs related and I didn't pay much attention to the artists. Whenever the subject of k-pop came up I just always thought it was some bizzare genre of music that I could never get into but occasionally checked out some songs to see if there would be anything I liked.

How do you feel about it now looking back?

Looking back like 5/6 years ago I never really thought I would pay so much attention to it but over the years I became more interested and eventually found things I really liked and was lured into it.

  • How did you first "discover" kpop? I saw Fire, Sorry Sorry and Nobody on TV.

  • What was your impression of it at first? meh

How do you feel about it now looking back? I regret nothing, maybe except for the time I defended ELFs and made long-ass comments on facebook to people who had even the slightest hint of hatred/irritation to Kpop.  :omgwtf:

I discover kpop because of my roomate back in 2010.she liked snsd and suju a lot so I was curios about kpop and started to read kpop magazine she bought.the first song I listened except Nobody was either gd's heartbreaker or 2pm's thank u and I was like korean language sounded so weird xD If it was not because of bonama mv,I think I'm not into kpop rn.I loved everything about bonamana (the song, the dance,MV and the group ;]) and because of that I started watching other groups MVs and it turned me into kpop fans.It was a great experienced.
