you need to apply until you get one. mcdonalds is always hiring

idk i've applied to starbucks like a million times and they've only called me for an interview once

stop stanning female idols

ok stop you're not helping!

Subway and ToysRUs literally hires anyone.

If you are in a university, the cafeteria hires anyone.

i've actually applied to toysrus a few times but they've never called me back so

i just got one and it was rly easy. use personal connections is all i can say rly.. make sure you dress nice and your resume looks promising. try and give safe answers. i got hired on the spot with 0 experience..

yeah that's the thing i literally have like 0 connections unsure.png

girl i feel you. never even got a call back from McDs (i did two interviews too!)

eventually got a retail job but quit bc school

If youre applying online to big Retail stores like Walmart that have a Survey and everything in place: THERE IS A RIGHT ANSWER! its NOT a buzzfeed personality Quiz dont delude yourself! so pick wisely. google if u dont know what the best pick is.

Going in person and asking for a manager works A LOT better than online. for me at least. Ive applied online and in person to the same place; in person i got called the next day for an interview or got an interview on the spot. Online, never gotten anything

Go into the interview prepared to be fake. research the company a bit. sound put together. If desperate, dont be restrictive in your availablity. know what they dont want to hear, like "i plan on working until school, then i have to quit". know the possible questions before hand, lots of people post that kinda stuff on glassdoor or indeed etc. Gooooood Luck

I used a connection I didn't even know I had. I mentioned someone i thought worked in a department a long time ago and it turns out everyone loved her. Try and be confident in your interview answers. Smile. Make small talk with the person interviewing you. Mine ended up being my manager for the department I was assigned to and he seemed to really like me.  During the interview try and say things that make you stand out. For instants I talked about how I take a lot of credit hours and I am learning languages and he really seemed to like it because he thinks the language im learning is really hard and I showed quite and interest to go farther in it. Depends on where you are interviewing tho..

My job is in retail tho.

your resume is probably shit tbh, so many people don't realize the importance of a well written resume. I used to go around applying for jobs with a MS Word esque template and never heard back from anyone before I realized my mistake.

and if your issue is with interviews, try and stage some mock interviews with a friend. If you're only looking to apply for entry level service jobs, sometimes it can help to drop off your resume, strike up a convo with the manager and just appear.. likeable. I got my first job at starbucks back in high school this way.

What kind of jobs?

Are you 18+? Some jobs prefer to not hire minors. If you're a minor, look for places where other minors work at. Your availability may be too tight. Try to be as available as possible. You won't get hired if you're only available Monday-Thursday for a couple hours.

Maybe you are saying the wrong things in interviews. Always make everything sound positive. Any negativity is a no go.

If they have you fill out a questionnaire online like for McDonalds or something, just pick the one that sounds the best, even if it's a lie. They don't actually look at those, it grades you and the best applicants are sent to the employer.

Try to find something in common with you and the interviewer and build on that. I connected with one of my interviewers over something as simple as our shared love of tacky young adult fiction, and I was interviewing for an engineering intern position. Make them remember you as a person and not just another applicant.

I'd try applying for a seasonal job at JCPenny or Bath and Body or something like that. It helps if you have pretty open availability. If you're in high school and in a lot of activities that's def working against you (if that's the case try applying to a local grocery store-the regional chain my city seems to staffed with nothing by hs students on the weekend).

YES. This is so true. You'll have to take these sorts of personality test for every JOB you apply for (even after college). They are super bullshit, but I guess they're to make sure you're not a serial killer or something.

What kind of job? What are your qualifications?

Research about company. Tailor answers to possible questions to their desires. Dress neat middle class sort, and very clean i.e. minimum makeup and no extra accessories.
