For those who don't know what Carousell is, it's like eBay and Amazon but it mainly caters towards the sale of second-hand items and has a lot of cheap items.

Long post ahead:

So i saw this really nice jacket that was on beauhalo but i felt like it was too pricey so i went to look up on carousell for cheaper alternatives (since my friends use it and they haven't had any major issues) and i found one

So then i chatted with the carouseller (this is in aug 2017 btw)(and for simplicity's sake I'll call her seller) and i did notice a few red signs there but i didn't really think too much about it since the account had 10k+ followers and 200+ positive reviews.

The red signs were mainly that the seller refused to meet up with me even though i offered to travel (it was about an hour plus journey from my house to the seller's side) and insisted on giving it to me via post.

So i placed my order and transferred money to the bank account the seller had provided (another bad mistake i know) and then there wasn't anything for 3 weeks (another red sign yes) until i prompted the seller.

It was stated in the bio that the goods will be delivered within 1-2 weeks.

Now by this time I should have suspected that I got scammed but because the seller kept going 'thank you for being understanding!' and 'Been busy with work lately :(' that I kept my suspicions aside since I didn't want to make a false alarm.

So when I prompted the seller, the seller was like the goods were stuck at the custom for checking. Fair enough, and so I thanked the seller and waited. This happened at the start of sept 2017.

In mid-sept, after my prompts, the seller came back and told me that the items had arrived but it was defected. The seller claimed that there were tears (even though the seller didn't upload photos as proof of evidence) and went on to place another order for me and paid extra (again, no evidence given to me)

and so being the grateful idiot that i was, i thanked the seller. There was no contact until the end of sept, until the seller messaged me that the item went out of stock. (Another red alert there?)

I then asked for a refund, but the seller was like 'only exchange of goods are allowed; no refunds' and at this point only did my suspicion began to kick in. But I didn't want to raise any feathers so I scrolled through the seller's listings (there were 700+ items that she was 'selling' so the picking took a long time) and picked 2 items that matched with price of the jacket that i had wanted to buy. The seller took a day to respond to it.

So there was no news until this month. I actually prompted her once at the start of this month asking when are the goods arriving, but there was no response. This was when I finally decided to take action to report the seller.

After i reported the seller to the Carousell team (which is as effective as me learning how to swim - not), i messaged the seller, and the seller actually replied me within a day. And what ensued was this:

(there's like 14 parts to the convo and I doubt anyone has the time to read so I just uploaded the main points here)

But yeah then the seller revealed the true colours when I tried confronting it. The seller later said the bio has not been updated for months, doing untruthful advertising, ignoring my requests for proof etc etc

Also the seller claimed that it will transfer the money back to me. (i wonder why that option wasn't offered in the first place when i wanted it in the first place??) I gave the seller a deadline but the seller was like 'please don't rule me, i transfer when i have the time' and i was like bitch please?

What's worst was i can feel that the seller is just being dumb trying too hard to be sassy, which is downright annoying and irritating because the fault clearly lies with her dishonest as well.

TL:DR seller refuses to pass me the goods via meet up and insisted on postage delivery, goods have not arrived since my order and payment 2 months ago, argued with the seller and the seller has a lot of claims with no evidence to support and continued to be haughty as hell even though seller was at fault for dishonest advertising.

Why does this seller have so many positive reviews if he/she doesn't update listings, replies late to messages, and doesn't ship within the promised time?

I hope you're able to get your money back.

I have no idea, and at the beginning the replies were actually quite fast (~few hours to a day or two) but then it got worst (~couple of weeks)

I feel like I'm the only buyer that faced this because I accidentally revealed that I'm new to the carousell experience
