But if we're being fair, who else? Its not like there is much competition right now. Red Velvet didn't debut in Japan yet and BlackPink isn't that popular neither in Korea. So Twice seems to be the only possibility. Having 3 Japanese members sure helps and with their cute and fun discography they were bound to be extremely popular

There are a lot of things contributing to TWICE's bigger success in Japan over other GGs

 

For one,they have 3 native Japanese members in a rather large girl group with 9 members in total,they are seen more familiar to Japanese fans as opposed to other K-pop groups

 

For second,they have one of the most successful K-pop boy groups ever debuted in Japan as their seniors,yes I am talking about 2PM,which gives them a lot of recognition that most other girl groups don't have

Not to mention there is also GOT7 to some extent

(Same can be said for BlackPink and Red Velvet whenever they decide to debut there)

 

For third,they have been a trend and rising group in Korea since their debut,and JYP has done a good job promoting them to maintain their popularity before making a debut in Japan

A lot of fame in Korea are being translated into bigger recognition to Japan

 

And yes,just the fact they are currently the most popular girl group in Korea give them quite a ton of attention there

The competition isn't strong for them especially when they come from JYPE afterall

 

Apink doesn't belong to this conversation

Apink has never been promoted properly in Japan,nor have all pre-existed advantages before they even announce a debut

oh yeah. whenever i walk into my local cd shop (it's not tower records who r notorious for this thing)  twice has a really nice display with their best album and other merch and a tv showing their music videos.. plus their stuff is hard to find because everyone in my area seems to buy it up asap   they're doing really well here 

 

 

can't wait for that tokyo dome concert in the future they'll have one, bet.

I think you misunderstood, it's not Jun Hyun Moo himself who said that TWICE is the most popular in Japan, he said that he talked to someone from a japanese agency when he was in Japan and he asked them about it.
