Perfume/Cologne as gifts? Any ideas, suggestions or recommendations?

I have 2 really good friends of mine whom I have not seen in a decade! I'm going back to my homeland for vacation in January but I'm already starting to buy gifts for people. I wanna get them something nice but I really don't know what. I don't wanna buy them clothes cause I dont know what they like/dont like. 

 

One friend is a female who's 30 and the other friend is a male who's my age. When I buy cologne as gifts for someone I always go by what I like to smell on someone. I thought about buying them a 3 piece gift set of cologne/perfume. 

 

Anyone has any suggestions as to what to get, especially when it comes to female perfume. As far as cologne goes I usually tend to go towards Giorgio Armani or YSL. I'm willing to spent up to $150 per person.

I've never smelt it l o l but it looks like it smells great

I tend to like more floral scents but my favorite perfumes are Chloe eau de parfum from Chloe and Pure Grace from the brand Philosophy. To me Chloe has a powdery feminine scent and Pure Grace has a very soft clean scent.

Chloe is described as a powdery floral scent with notes of peony,rose, honey and cedar wood.

Pure Grace is described as having notes of bergamot, water lily, lavender, jasmine, cool greens, and musk.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tend to stay away from flowery scents cause they're just overpowering, but its a personal preference. Same thing with men's cologne, I do not like strong woodsy/earthy masculine scents. I tend to always buy the fresh scents.

I don't think I've smelled any of those before, but I'll definitely keep them in mind the next time I'm shopping for perfumes or colognes. I know that perfume/cologne shopping can be a literal headache after spending so much time smelling different scents.I hope you're able to find the right ones for your friends.

YSL's Black Opium is the one I'm using now and I love it. 

What type of fragrances do you/ your friends like? If you'll like something on a sweet/ spicy side I really recommend this. 

 

Edit: Just read your post above. If you're looking for a fresh scent thats not overly floral, maybe try Chance by Chanel or Marc Jacob's Daisy.

this is my favorite scent, everyone around me like(d) it as well. It's flower-y but very pleasant.

For your male friend I suggest Acqua di Parma or Byredo. Both have an agreeable scent not nauseatingly overpowering. I personally use Byredo's Gypsy Water and Sunday Cologne.

Sample Byredo's "Bal D'afrique". Most people like it. (on some the scent doesn't last long, though). The packing is really nice.

 

Another suggestion would be a cozy wood-fire scented candle for the winter months (not to everyone's taste)

 

Diptique "Feu De Bois" is really nice. Another good one is Byredo's "Apocalyptic" (it's stronger).

Marc Jacob's Daisy is good. It's refreshing and not too strong.
