gfriend's concept is growing up
oh my girl's concept is showing multiple facets

april's concept is girlish youthfulness

lovelyz's concept is warped fantasy

all of them have stuck to their concepts tbh, though for lovelyz the connection between their concept is the clearest to see bc they utilize trilogies

Out of those 4, Lovelyz if definitely the one. Other than their first album and CJL, they've been following an Elegant-Fairylike-Vintage-Fantasy kind of concept. Music-wise, 1Piece's been working extensively with Lovelyz and helped craft their own signature sound. Everything about Lovelyz looks and sounds like Art to me, even though they are not perfect.

GFriend have tried some different concepts, but yeah I agree with the above that they have no more Fingertip.

APRIL has kinda regular cute/innocent concept to me (I could be wrong).

Oh My Girl have tried different concepts as well, ranging from the aesthetics of Closer to the vivid Liar Liar and Coloring Book. But their music (which mostly were produced by western artists), while sound great, have barely helped define OMG's style.

As Fineapple, I think April is started to change their concept slowly, but they still stick to their concept the most

Personally, I don't really care about their concept since I like them and their songs because their songs emphasize their vocals instead of how they pull the concept (since most of April's songs are difficult and challenging with plenty of highnotes)

They have a solid discography too. Too bad they're under DSP, which I hate.

their music just sounds too much alike.

Outside of Beast/Highlight every group's music sounds alike. it's kind of what happens when the same people are signing in virutally the same order all the time. The main/lead singer thing pretty much assures that will happen.

Lovelyz, their music is unique and not everyone's cup of tea but you can't deny that they've already established their sound big credit to OnePiece. When their music starts to play you will know that it's Lovelyz. As for gfriend, they always have a dance break on their songs which is pretty good you'll recognize that it is from gfriend. I dunno for OMG because their music changes every comeback. For April, I still see them as kids.

OMG imo its the most versatile of the groups listed.

It's clear that GFriend sticked to one concept and won't let go.

Lovelyz invented cute synthpop, the MVs may be different, but they always has that "thing" on their songs that screams LOVELYZ!

I don't know April that well, but if their concept is never give Yena decent lines, then yeah, they stick with the concept really well. lol

As far as title tracks go, Lovelyz and GFriend both have very very consistent sounds. Even the tracks where they experimented with their concepts a bit more (Destiny/WoW! and Fingertip) you could still tell that the music was their signature sound. Now... Lovelyz also has For You which wasn't produced by One Piece and I'm not sure if GFriend has a title track that's not produced by their usual producer but regardless it was difficult to vote on this one since both have very distinctive sounds. Some say that GFriend and Lovelyz sound the same but to me they sound completely different, one seems to have a lighter sound with more synth and whimsy and can vary from sounding like video game music to anime music... the other one has a more dramatic sound with more guitar and an intense mood that sounds like it would fit into a drama more so. : )

As far as concepts go though, Lovelyz was an easy vote. GFriend has Fingertip but even with Destiny Lovelyz never strayed from their feminine and innocent concept... it isn't as light and cutesy as their other title tracks but it doesn't feel like a deviation from their usual concept at all, more so a progression of it.

April has had a lot of tracks, most of them I didn't particularly love until 2017. Before 2017 they seemed to go for bright and happy music with a quirky sort of sound and then in 2017 they started to mature their sound a bit, I love all three of their title tracks this year and from April Story to Mayday to Hold My Hand they've shown that they're capable of doing different concepts and still retain their cute image.

Oh My Girl is kind of all over the place in terms of both sound and concepts... Cupid, Liar Liar, and A-ing all have a cute and bright concept but they sound pretty different from each other to me. Closer is just completely different from their other title tracks, it's relaxing and soft and pretty... Windy Day has a somewhat similar concept to Closer, but the sound is different to me... Coloring Book was... Coloring Book. So as a result Oh My Girl wins the category of not being tied to any specific concept... that being said I don't know if they can say they've created a specific image or sound that makes you think "Oh My Girl!", their title tracks all vary so much that it's difficult to know what to expect next from them... which can be both a blessing and a curse, kind of a jack of all trades who specialize in nothing so they're free to show off different members' skills and strengths... (they're good at what they do, they just don't have a specific angle)

Oh My Girl also differs from the other groups because there isn't as strict of a formula given to them in terms of line distribution... Jine generally gets the least parts but aside from her I've seen instances where the top 3 or 4 members varied from Hyojung, Seunghee, Yooa, Jiho, Mimi, Binnie, and Arin... if there's no rap then take Mimi out but otherwise the line distribution and opportunity to grab attention is there for them... whereas with GFriend it'd be difficult to find a song where Sowon's voice dominates or a Lovelyz song where Jisoo gets a lot of parts. April follows a formula too, there are songs where members (especially Yena) get very very few seconds to nothing to sing in a title song, I think their distribution gives the members the least opportunity to showcase their different charms and talents which is a shame... Yena seriously gets so little to work with... : (

so yeah that's my answer. : )

EDIT: So maybe I should clarify, when I say that OMG has a different sound and concept every comeback and is "all over the place" I mean that they get to show versatility. If you read this and think that I am insulting or praising any of the groups above then please reconsider your thoughts on my stance as that was not my intention. All of the groups are good, I was just writing why I voted what I did. : )

Also idols do not create their own music and concept, it is all up to the companies... as a result even if I did mean to insult anyone, it would not be the idols themselves... it is not so serious that insults need to be thrown around... maybe my wording could have been different but please do not attack me over an opinion and observation. : )

also if you read this far then congratulations (the password is [fairies are love])!! ^o^

so yeah that's my answer. : )

Hmm yeah that was a long winded and slightley shady way of saying:

Lovelyz and Gfriend have the most songs that sound the same as their previous songs, and omg are the most versatile.

Oh My Girl is kind of all over the place in terms of both sound and concepts...

All over the place, for having different sounding songs and concepts each comeback?

Err.. ok i guess shinee, exo, red velvet, bts etc. are all over the place too.. OR.. they just have'nt boxed themselves into a sound like lovelyz did with apinks sound or gfriend who are too scared to try anything new incase their uncle fandom throws a hissy fit.

that being said I don't know if they can say they've created a specific image or sound that makes you think "Oh My Girl!", their title tracks all vary so much that it's difficult to know what to expect next from them... which can be both a blessing and a curse, kind of a jack of all trades who specialize in nothing so they're free to show off different members' skills and strengths...

Again.. do exo sound like exo despite having a different sound and concept each comeback, of course they do. How about bts?

Of course they do.. Red Velvet..of course they do.. and it's the same with omg.

A group does'nt need to trap themselves with crap background music that sounds like a 90's ringtone to have "a sound".

"jack of all trades who specialize in nothing"

lmao. get your head out your ass.

so yeah that's my answer. : )

Hmm yeah that was a long winded and slightley shady way of saying...

... I didn't mean it in a shady way, I've been following OMG for a while and generally enjoy their releases (a fact that I was hoping would come through by listing their title tracks and member names, maybe other people waste their time learning about groups they don't like but I don't...). I just meant that I do not think their sound is quite as distinctively OMG as the other groups. : )

Besides I listed the benefits of them having different sounds and concepts as well... please don't assume that I meant to insult them (I didn't) and refrain from ever speaking to me as if you know me or my intentions please, on the internet you don't hear the tone of voice or see body language so things can be interpreted in different ways...

Also I am not getting into a fan war for pointing out an observation, please just accept that my opinion is my own and if you're not a fan of it then voice why nicely while stating your own. It's okay if we disagree on things, to you maybe OMG's sound is super distinctive but please do not put words in my mouth and assume I meant harm when I meant none. : )

also I didn't read everything you had to say since it seemed kind of... pointed, so maybe at some point you clarified and I just didn't read it... if that's the case then I apologize. : )

You did'nt mean your shade in a shady way? Ok dear, act coy.

I've said all i needed too in the previous post, but i really do appreciate your opinion.

It's nice knowing which fandoms turn pathetic the moment a gg other than their own recieves praise in a thread, in this case 'for their versatility' or as you call it 'being all over the place'.

Some people are just so sensitive. Bonbonfairy wasn't insulting OMG at all. Please read her post again. She just meant OMG haven't followed a particular concept.

And please don't say things you have no idea about. Lovelyz and Apink's music sound the same? LMAO

One more thing, BEING VERSATILE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEIR CONCEPT. OMG tried new things, yes good for them!!! But Lovelyz and GF doing the same concepts doesn't mean they're not versatile. It's just that Gfriend wanna be GFriend, or Lovelyz wanna be Lovelyz, as their own images.
