I honestly think more K-Pop fandoms will try for Hot 100 after BTS got in without debuting/going viral in the US

Because international fans have realized the power of streaming in entering the charts, and while K-Pop lacks mainstream relevance, they have a superior level of fandom organization and devotion.

I honestly imagine some big K-Pop fandoms organizing to attempt entering the chart, and no we won't judge you guys for it. I feel other fandoms want to try it too but are choosing not to because they feel other fandoms will judge them for it, but at the end of the day - an achievement is an achievement.

This is the beauty of people breaking records - others realize it's doable when hard work and strategy is thrown in. People will say it's mass streaming and bulk buying but y'all need to realize that Billboard filters those things out through Nielsen. I believe competition is good, it forces all of us to outdo each other but in the end, it helps K-Pop inch its way through mainstream globally. It's not a fraud since these same acts can outsell venues in the US, Europe and Asia.

You meant well and you're not wrong but this is exactly the kind of post that gets ARMYs bashed.

Lmao it will happen anyway though even if other fandoms deny it. Remember when "Youtube streams are irrelevant!" a couple of years back, and here we are with nearly every fandom setting 24h streaming goals laugh.png laugh.png What can you say, K-Pop fans are pretty prideful, my point is...pride is going to do nothing if you wanna raise your faves. Just go for it.

In the end, it also benefits us...because if only one group stays on top, fandoms become complacent because _____ is/are a wall and it's impossible to go over that, then that fandom themselves end up too relaxed in their position. But when you have a record set, people get motivated and have goals. In the end it benefits the industry and movement as well.

Idk why you got negged sis.

I personally do not expect to see any kpop groups in western mainstream media anytime soon, but I wouldn't mind exposing my faves to a larger demographic. Music is music to me and I think it shouldn't be held down by language barriers.

Ofc I won't go out of my way to stream like crazy (I'm actually pretty judgemental og it) but if my faves ever do get popular enough that they get global attention I think that's a step forward.

Why are you negged when those people who said BTS and ARMY seek "Western validation" will do the same for their faves.

I have been in Kpop since DBSK days but I have never seen the ARMY vs Kpop fandoms being divided to this extent.

Correct me if I'm wrong but when other Kpop acts achieve something outside of Korea, others never said "validation".

But whenever BTS achieves something, they try to downplay it in any way possible.

i got better things to do than ask americans to listen to kpop, you either have interest or you don't. not like i gain anything from being part of an even bigger and more annoying fanbase

you do. more concert stops + bigger venues.

for us european its still a dream sadly :(

Probably tbh just like how exol asked to play monster after they played a bts song lmao and tbh sm creating a twitter account for exo after bts won on Billboard is pretty obvious.

exol ask for cmb to be played on radios way back in 2015 and sm create a twitter account for literally all their groups

even snsd recentrly got one and god knows when they will cmb and use it

u armys need to stop thinking all exo do relate to bts, it's the same thing with the voting today early

I mean sure, if it can push kpop groups to work together more towards gaining mainstream relevance in western countries thats cool.

Though I definitely wont be going out and endlessly streaming my faves (especially when I dont stream anyways) but Im not gonna bash others for doing so.

What is the end purpose tho? honest question. Bigger concerts? CF? 2NE1 did have that Microsoft ad I suppose. The rest would be temporary bc it can never be non niche. I can only talk about my faves but BB already can tour heavily there without it (BTS had that even without it too) and I cannot imagine VIPs will bulk buy and heavily stream for it anyway

BlackPink may naturally achieve it bc they have a big international (us based) fandom already bc I don't know about streaming but physicals will be not exciting, gg and YG combo.

Please don't forget that US charts combine physical and digital sales because their prices are similar, unlike the Korean market.
