Two Cops gears up for premiere in November with new stills

The only thing better than one Jo Jung-seok (Jealousy Incarnate), is two Jo Jung-seoks! Which is why I’m excited for MBC’s upcoming Two Cops, where Jo Jung-seok plays a man with dual identities. He is originally a justice-loving violent crimes investigator who has been nicknamed by criminals as “Grim Reaper†because it’s the end of their free lives when they see him, but his body becomes inhabited by the soul of a bewitching con man who easily enchants people out of their wallets in minutes. New stills of the drama have been released showing four of our main leads, completely immersed in their roles.

Jo Jung-seok’s leading lady, played by Hyeri (Entertainer), is a workaholic community reporter who is tenacious to a fault and has a prickly personality. To get the latest scoop, she’s always at the police station, peppering the cops with questions, and because of her dedication and perseverance, she’s worked her way up in life from her dirt-poor beginnings.

Hoya (Radiant Office) plays the brains of the violent crimes department. If he sees something once, he’ll remember it flawlessly. With a bright and positive attitude, he’s the cute but clumsy maknae of the department. From a wealthy background and with an upright appearance, he’s also definitely a prime target for the ladies. His one fatal flaw is that once something catches his interest, he’ll pursue it obsessively until the end. So when Jo Jung-seok’s character becomes one of his obsessions, he follows him like a lost puppy everywhere.

Then there’s the original scam artist that ends up in Jo Jung-seok’s body, played by Kim Sun-ho (Strongest Deliveryman). With his glib-talking abilities, handsome looks, gentlemanly manners, and good humor, he’s an artist of deception through and through. Due to a fateful event, his soul is transplanted into Jo Jung-seok’s righteous cop body, and I can already imagine that the hijinks that follow from their disharmonious joining will be pure comedy.

MBC’s Two Cops will air on Mondays and Tuesdays starting this November, following the end of 20th Century Boy and Girl.

First Teasers Of Hoya Revealed From Upcoming Fantasy Drama “Two Copsâ€

New teaser photos have been released for Hoya’s role in the upcoming fantasy crime drama “Two Cops,†which also stars Jo Jung Suk and Girl’s Day’s Hyeri.

In the drama, Hoya plays the brainy Dok Go Sung Hyuk, the youngest detective of the violent crimes unit who doesn’t forget a single thing he’s ever seen. His character has a quirky, off-the-wall charm, with his tendency to, when he becomes a fan of something, fall hard. Sung Hyuk falls hard for Cha Dong Tak (Jo Jung Suk), and becomes like his shadow, following him wherever he goes.

“Two Cops†staff said, “From the beginning, Hoya has shown exceptional passion for acting. He’s always looking at the script even when he’s resting, and he carefully monitors all scenes he is in, no matter how small or brief.â€

“Two Cops†is a fantasy drama about a cop, who gets possessed by a con artist (Cha Dong Tak, played by Jo Jung Suk), and a fiery reporter (Song Ji An, played by Hyeri). The drama will be airing in November after the conclusion of “20th Century Boy and Girl.â€

Jo Jung-seok gets ready to throw punches in Two Cops stills

coptwice3.jpg

Looks like MBC’s Two Cops is shaping up nicely. In the new stills, police investigator Jo Jung-seok (Jealousy Incarnate) looks tougher than ever before, whereas the con man who will take over his body, played by Kim Sun-ho(Strongest Deliveryman), shows off his best rascal smile. This upcoming supernatural drama is about the partnership between a cop who has two souls inhabiting his body and a prickly society reporter, played by Hyeri(Entertainer).

I’m not sure how exactly the soul-switching will occur, but the setup has Jo Jung-seok playing an incredibly righteous, justice-oriented policeman in the violent crimes division. From Taekwondo to judo to boxing, he has a wide repertoire of martial arts under his belt, and has no compunction about bashing in a couple heads to catch his perp. Because ofhis amazing arrest rate and sixth sense when it comes to criminals, he’s known among them as the “Grim Reaper.â€

One day, something goes awry, and his body gets taken over by another man’s soul. The new guy (Kim Sun-ho) is a classic con artist, with an easygoing mischievous personality and an otherworldly charm that can enchant people to do whatever he asks. A scamp inhabiting a cop’s body—the comedic possibilities are endless! And they’ll have Hyeri’s prickly character right there alongside them, following them around in hopes of catching a scoop on their latest case.

Lee Shi-un (W—Two Worlds), also captured in the stills below, plays Yong-pal, aka a surgeon who illicitly stitches up mobsters and treats others engaged in not-so-legal violent activities. But for his day job, he operates a small hostess bar. He’s the type of character who is loyal to the bone, and prizes that trait in all others. Although at the operating table he’s coldly efficient, in all other circumstances, he’s a sensitive soul who easily sheds tears and loves his parents. Because of his connections to the underground, he serves as a helpful informant to Jo Jung-seok. (LOL—Lee Shi-un becoming a playful parody of Joo-won’s Yong-pal already has got me laughing.)

Starting November 27, we have crime comedy Two Cops to look forward to on Monday-Tuesday, after 20th Century Boy and Girl ends.

First peek at badass officer Jo Jung-seok in MBC’s Two Cops

It’s a very short teaser, but we finally get our first glimpse of Jo Jung-seok(Jealousy Incarnate) in his new body-possession drama Two Cops, about a cop whose body gets inhabited by a con man. With this actor and this premise, I’m expecting all-out hilarity to ensue. That’s the expectation, anyway (I mean, how could you cast Jo Jung-seok and deny us comedy?), but the first teaser focuses on his badass side, the tough cop who never misses his mark.

The new MBC fantasy investigation romance stars Jo Jung-seok as a righteous violent crimes detective nicknamed the “Grim Reaper†with an impressive arrest record and an even more impressive list of martial arts skills under his belt. In the teaser, he kicks and flies his way through various criminal gangs while narrating, “As a given, a Korean detective knows taekwondo, hapkido, judo, gumdo, etc. At least 20 levels. So don’t show up before my eyes, you stupid thug.†Then he puts on his dress uniform and says to the camera, “Me? I’m Detective Cha Dong-tak of the violent crimes division, central precinct.â€

He seems like a very no-nonsense character who’s extremely proud of being a police officer, so I can only imagine the disruption that’ll occur in his life when he gets possessed by the soul of a con artist. And on top of the fantasy investigation elements, he’ll also have a romance with a prickly reporter, played by Hyeri (Entertainer). It will take a lot of convincing to get me to board this ship, but if anyone could make me believe the unbelievable, it’s Jo Jung-seok.

The first teaser doesn’t really give us a feel for the drama since it’s just one slice of the pie, but at least now I’m eagerly waiting for the rest. And knowing that the drama comes from the PD of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-ju, I’m hopeful for what’s to come.

Two Cops will follow 20th Century Boy and Girl on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning November 27.

Am contributing to the buzz with my translation of the news released today. Incidentally, DongAn ë™ì•ˆ in Hangeul also means “babyfaceâ€. Love this name for our OTP!

ã€News】 "Two cops" JoJungSuk X Hyeri, just by looking at their happy interactions together, there’s already “찰떡†(chalddok- a kind of sticky glutinous rice) chemistry.

In the latest still cuts, JoJungSuk and Hyeri showed us their warm chemistry and this is certainly stimulating great anticipation for the drama.

'Two Cops' is about the romance story of ChaDongTak, a police officer from the Serious Crime Division and SongJiAn, a big-hearted and charming news reporter from the Social Affairs Department of a news agency. Indeed, the meeting of the “king of acting†and popular Hyeri in this drama has already made TwoCops one of the most anticipated dramas in the second half of this year.

In the released photographs showing them seated facing each other and chatting, you can see the perfect chemistry of DongAn (combination of their character names which happens to mean babyface as well) and sense the warm atmosphere they bring to the set.

Although this is the first time JoJungSuk and Hyeri are working together, they show fantastic understanding between them that has amazed the staff. Not only that, every moment every second of their interaction in the drama, they have been practicing, discussing and working out enthusiastically with each other as regards each other’s on-screen positions, lines and so on. In addition, during rest time, their own positive outlook and cheerful personality have livened up the shooting atmosphere.

Officials at Two Cops said: "The energy and enthusiasm of JoJungSuk and Hyeri is amazing. They have been freely sharing about their distress over their acting and both have the strong desire to show a “DongAn†couple that will resonate with the audience. We have high expectations of shining results for their efforts and hope the audience will look forward to the relationship between ChaDongTak and Song JiAn and give TwoCops lots of support and attention.

Meanwhile, 'Two Cops' is a drama that will air after '20th Century Boys and Girls' on November 27.

[News][sportschosun.com Reporter JeongAnJi] ‘Two Cops’ writer ByeongSangSun said, both JoJungSuk and Hyeri are like two people who walked out of the script.

MBC’s ‘Two Cops’ has created quite a lot of buzz since its release of stills and teasers that launched the fantasy crime drama that is about ChaDongTak, a police officer from the violent crimes unit and SongJiAn, a prickly lady who’s “born to be a news reporterâ€.

From the beginning, the drama has generated much interest and discussion because it has courted JoJungSuk who is one of the most sought after actors in kdrama world. The writer has revealed that in fact, at one point, the names JoJungSuk and ChaDongTak were interchangeably used subconsciously because the character ChaDongTak was like a real person that walked out of the drama as JoJungSuk. The writer marveled at the extent of JoJungSuk’s assimilation of the character which has amazed everyone involved in the production.

ByeongSangSun also shared about her first impression of Hyeri.  "After a very profound dialogue  the first time we met, I saw how Hyeri was able to transform the character SongJiAn to be her very own. I was really surprised to find the character coming out of Hyeri’s facial expressions and gestures. It was as if SongJiAn herself was right in front of me. It was as if I had Hyeri in mind all along when I created SongJiAn.â€

When asked how the writer got the inspiration for the story, she said, “I thought it would be funny to merge good and evil in one person and to use the diametrically opposing characters - a law enforcement character seeking justice and the other, a liar and a criminal, to create into one person and to use such a contrasting pair of characteristics to solve crimes. That idea that I conceived motivated me to write this story.â€
As a result of this novel idea, the writer revealed that ‘TwoCops’ will be different from the normal detective genre type of drama. "Compared to the normal detective genre, you will experience the power of narration of a detective story through these two characters in one person.†

In addition, ByeongSangSun also disclosed another unique feature of'Two Cops' - the audience will see a lot of “bromance†bond among men that is closer than that of family; this is also what makes the story special. The special bond will also drive the revenge-seeking back story of GongSuChang in the alliance between law enforcement personnel seeking justice and the character of GongSuChang.

After the process-from the initial writing being inspired by the novel concept conceived by the writer to the search for the right actors to participate in the drama, the story of ‘TwoCops’ will very soon unfold before us. It is certainly a drama that arouses our curiosity. Please look forward to it.

What it takes to be a female reporter in Korea according to Two Cops

twocops-teaser11119.jpg

There’s going to be some epic head-butting between the two leads in this one, I can tell. The second teaser for MBC’s body-swap rom-com Two Cops is out, and the first showed a no-nonsense Jo Jung-seok (Jealousy Incarnate) as a violent crimes detective, while this time, we have Hyeri (Entertainer) as the tenacious, prickly local news reporter with a habit of getting into trouble.

The teaser starts with Hyeri asking the audience what we think are required of female reporters in Korea, “Narcissism? Shamelessness? Or beauty?†She hisses at the way people look down on them in that way, as we see her struggle into a fray of reporters and get into some hair-pulling fights. I mean, I gotta admire her bravery, ‘cause I would be running the other way if I was confronted by a group of gangsters, and not trying to bite one’s arm off, getting thrown to the ground and tied up in the process. She proudly lists a couple of monikers she’s been called, all ending with a curse word.

The teaser lists that female reporters’ actual qualifications are being abrasive and courageous, as Hyeri tells someone offscreen that “women in Korea have always been pretty brave, and the reporters among them even more so.†It’s still a tad weird to see Hyeri playing a professional, but she cuts a surprisingly convincing figure at the end of the teaser, which has her in front of the camera as her character signs off.

I always love it when the female leads have some sass and backbone, so though I still have my reservations about Hyeri as an actress and opposite Jo Jung-seok, I’m going to go into Two Cops with an open mind. I’m also pretty eager to see the two leads interact, ‘cause they both seem hilariously bull-headed and I can’t wait to see who folds in the battle of wills.

There’s only a little over two weeks until Two Cops finally premieres on November 27, taking over from 20th Century Boy and Girl in MBC’s Monday-Tuesday slot.
