People were mocking him and acting like he'd never get anywhere without the power of SM and EXO. Now he's bigger than any Kpop idol in existence. Part of the issue is that there is too much focus on companies in Korea who are greedy and lack resources and connections to make it world wide outside of Asia. BTS is lucky bc BH is smart and they have a huge social media presence, but Kris has legitimate connects, huge luxury endorsement deals, Hollywood and other entertainment connections. If he'd stayed in EXO he'd just be a forgotten member in the basement of that group gathering dust. SM never would have given him anything. His growing international/US fame was shocking because I didn't know he was aiming for the US industry. He has so many connections in Hollywood it seems. He out here repping China. He has a strange charisma. My mom who doesn't care for celebrities loves Kris. She watched his movie and fell in love. She likes him more than I do.
