ArticleWhy are Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun leaving SM?

Source: Ilgan Sports via Naver

1. [+870, -62] Yuri and Yoona are pursuing acting too but you don't see them leaving. In the end, the three just don't want to work with SM anymore. Sigh, still upsetting.

2. [+677, -40] Tiffany's just going home

3. [+398, -41] SES, FinKL and Baby VOX were the first generation and WG, SNSD, and KARA were the second generation... farewell to the girl groups of my teens and twenties.. I'll miss you

4. [+407, -59] Yoona's pursuing acting too... so it seems like SM let go of the three first

5. [+241, -19] It's sadder because Tiffany and Seohyun are a part of TTS too ㅜ I was hoping to at least keep TTS even if not SNSD... I trust that the three made the best decision and will continue to support them.

6. [+100, -0] Makes no sense that the three are leaving to pursue acting since SM manages actors too. Something just wasn't the right fit for them. Considering how Go Ara left too, I guess SM is lacking in the acting department.

7. [+75, -2] People are assuming that SM let go of the three first but I think the members are just choosing to be free to pursue whatever they want now that their contracts are expired. They dedicated their teens and twenties to their contract responsibly and probably want to start a second life now. They've made all the money they need and have had enough of the flashy lights. It's time to listen to what their heart is saying.

8. [+61, -1] SNSD represented a generation... now they're much too mature to still call 'girls'... it was inevitable that they were to split into their own ways soon. I hope they all find a path that allows them growth...

1. [+227, -9] I'm sure they'll be fine, they've all saved up millions after all

2. [+161, -12] What does "why" matter when they've already done so much with their careers... I don't think this disbandment is a result of any problems, just a feeling of wanting to try something new

3. [+87, -46] I honestly expected Tiffany and Sooyoung but it was pretty unexpected of Seohyun...

4. [+43, -7] They've been at this for 11 years, it's time to crave change. We have examples of god and Shinhwa so I don't see any big problems in the future. Soshi as a brand is already so big on its own.

5. [+28, -8] I think Sooyoung's going to join her boyfriend's agency ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

6. [+19, -8] You have to admit SNSD has been a flop lately ã…‹ã…‹ album sales and digital rank ã…‹ã…‹

7. [+19, -5] Seohyun and Sooyoung are only known for being under SNSD... I think they'll become nugus once you strip the SNSD title from them..

8. [+17, -9] The members with the least acting talent are leaving for acting ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

Article"NOT disbanding"... SNSD, either 5 members or whole

Source: OSEN via Naver

1. [+3,848, -236] This is basically a disbandment

2. [+2,149, -98] Five members... something about that is really awkward

3. [+2,300, -241] They can be like Shinhwa and work in separate agencies while getting back together to promote as a group

4. [+1,534, -202] Judging by the SNSD I've come to know so far, I don't think the members would've given up on the group so easily. They've also always said they were going to pursue both individual activities while keeping the group whole. I trust that they'll do just that. This isn't my first rodeo with having to wait for SNSD considering that SM put them on a two year hiatus before.

5. [+1,720, -271] I can't lose SNSD ㅜㅜ WonKaSo, SISTAR, 2NE1 are all disbanding...

expecting sooyoung to get marry next year

you can't compare seohyun with yoona, yoona is more popular therefore get more opportunities to do what she wants.

tiffany career in korea is basically done after her flag scandal

Seohyun and Sooyoung are good actresses with the most range do to different roles. There are a lot of YA fans attacking them on DCInside because they wanted her to leave instead because the image of an SM actor is limiting.

wow... i'm surprised no one mentioned that the reason these girls could've left was because of SM's shit treatment towards them.... with SNSD's horrible 10th anniversary, Taeyeon's messed up airport incident, all the early buzz with Tiffany (all happening in the past few months)... they were totally disrespected as a whole, and it's not like they're even rookie idols... they are in their 10th year and SM treats them like this even though SNSD made a shit ton of money for them... i'd leave too if I were them, plus I think the 3 will do fine without SM -> Tiffany's been away from home for a really long time so I think she probably really just wants to spend her late 20s with her family in the US and settle down maybe with acting as a side job and I can already see that for Sooyoung (with the settling down part & acting), and Seohyun is already great in singing, dancing & acting so I don't think anything can stop her from succeeding -> it's like how Sunmi did better once she left JYP, her new label made her shine with her solo, so who knows?

Netizenbuzz are assholes. They are stupid to think that SM is giving Seohyun, Yuri, and Sooyoung the same opportunities as Yoona. Seohyun and Sooyoung have said multiple times that SM has never supported them in their individual activities and has even held them back. Fucking idiots. They obviously don't trust SM to manage their activities without screwing them over (which exactly what we saw with their 10th anniversary comeback) so they left. As far as we know, that does not mean they are not still members of SNSD, they just don't want SM managing them as individuals.

If you pay attention to the group you see how the 3 were mistreated:

- Tiffany given no support whatsoever during the flag scandal (and by support I mean defense against the misleading articles and death threats)

- Sooyoung.... SM denied her roles she wanted and forced her into roles she didn't want. She wanted one Station song and said SM refused. She wanted to contribute more to writing but SM refused again.

- Seohyun. Hello, SM turned down her role offer for TRAIN TO BUSAN. That just scratches the surface of it

Tbh I'm surprised that Yuri stayed. I wouldn't blame her for leaving either.

These two are too shrewd and ambitious for SM. They will do better after leaving because they will find companies that can make them shine

TL;DR They are sick of the way they are treated

Seohyun was offered the role that was later taken by Suzy in Architecture 101, and she was also offered a role in Train to Busan but SM axed both her chances

SM officially declined Sooyoung's role in My Spring Days, the role for which she got so many awards, which she would have lost had she not insisted the way she did. She has been held back so much, she is even the only one without a SM Station song.

Tiffany was thrown under the bus when she needed help the most

Really? Seohyun? For Train to Busan? That's so dissapointing. Architecture 101 was originally for her too.
