Without headphones. Like why? Who would possibly think that it is acceptable to listen to something in public without earphones? It's not a rule per se, more like one of those things people just know (or I guess people my age). why would you offer her yours? she might have nasty ears I didn't end up offering them to her btw. And I have like 5 pairs of earbuds so I think I would have been okay sacrificing a pair to some middle aged woman without any common sense.
