how to you feel good about yourself without any external factors?

Interesting question, overall I do think most of our self-steem comes from tangible assessments about our qualities. Having good grades, being in good in certain sports, activities, or just getting compliments often. All of those are assessments relative to a scale or direct comparisons towards your peers.

 

So in order to have a positive image about yourself, that doesn't depend on external factors sounds like something not very easy to achieve. At least it involves a lot of introspection and knowing yourself quite well in order for you to be aware and accept what are your virtues and defects.

 

In the end I think it all comes down to affront what you don't like about yourself with a positive attitude and with the intent of permanently trying to improve. Like acknowledging you're not perfect but not in a conformist manner but rather trying to improve yourself.
