Blade Runner 2049 is possibly the best movie of 2017 so far (imo)

First of all, like the first one BR 2049 also moves at a slow pace and takes time to build the plot but at the same time, it also provides some very intriguing scenarios and questions that you will be thinking about long after you have left the cinema hall.

Visually,it's arguably one of the best movies of this decade and needs to win the best cinematography oscar.

Acting wise, Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas and Jared Leto(in a surprisingly small role) are the standouts.

Definitely a must watch for any true classic sci-fi fan.

Also i almost forgot, the soundtrack also lives up to the hype.

Meh, too white casts. Plus the old movie dealt with lots of racist connotations again Asians.

An American movie with a mostly white cast!?!? Oh my god, how dare they! Everyone knows only minorities can act! And both Blade Runner films are about questions of existentialism & identity posed by a future where synthetics are created for slave labor, but sure, we can pretend it's about hating Asians. Because why not? Gotta feed that victim complex somehow! rolleyes.gif

I would recommend it pretty highly, but I can't, knowing most of the people on this forum are the short attention span type. The thinkers among you should go see it; people like blank_stare... not so much.

This movie is bad for those people with short attention spans sadly.

For those who don't have short attention spans it's very cool. Acting wise, cinematography, production design, etc. I couldn't think of anyone other than Denis Villeneuve for this film, guy is on a roll.

Lol, okay. Guess you're triggered. Did I say this movie is ALL about racists? No I just said it dealt with lots of racists connotations towards Asians. I mean Victim Complex because crying about unfairness is now seen as bad? Okay sure I guess Asians and other minorities should just stay quiet right? Because this is a white mans world.

Man, you're really bothered by someone's opinion of a freaking movie. A depiction of the future that's not even accurate. Okay... Lol at 2049 when Los Angeles, the hub of almost all races, in the movie depicted as having the majority of White. Okay, cool. Guess Asians, Black, Hispanics, etc are all eradicated and left with the light skinned or Aryan race.

Btw, I do love a deep philosophical movie, but not when it's depicts inaccuracies. Now, I bid you and the rest here a farewell because nothing can change your mind on how you view the world in others.

I'm Asian and I have no idea what racist connotations you're talking about, either in the first or sequel of Blade Runner.

There was some diversity in the new movie but I guess you were too busy with your SJW pandering that you forgot.

Also lol, about the depiction of the future you can say the same thing about the original Blade Runner seeing that it's set in 2019 and there's still no sign of flying cars yet nobody cares. And here you are, choosing to be offended over the race of the extras.

Seems like nothing more than scrutinizing and nitpicking. If that's your reason for not enjoying this movie when it offers SO much more, then there's not much we can do for you.

Go back to tumblr.

There are actually some audiences and critics who think that this is even better than the original Blade Runner. Do you agree?

All you just did was further prove you have a deep-seated victim complex, all the while completely failing to explain how the film is racist. I'm clearly not the one who is triggered here. Apparently you're also a psychic who can tell whether or not depictions of the future are accurate. lmao

Movie shows Asian characteristics in American cities that currently lack such things, including a giant advertisement with an Asian woman = Asians have been eradicated? imstupid.png

Lol at you thinking I go to tumblr. That's laughable.

Have you read what I said? I said majority is white in this sequel. Then the next sentence was just me being sarcastic seeing as the government are majority pandering to white supremacy ideals. If you read everything, I was being sarcastic. The fact that the setting has very Asian/Japanese and yet there weren't at least one Asian actor/actress as a minor character. No I'm not talking about being a background character that just passes by.

In certain aspects, yes.

It is more beautiful looking and ana de armas' character is probably the most interesting take on AI to date in the whole series.

Plus it has a much better ending than the first one.

Fair enough. However, one thing that really stood out for me in the original aside from the visuals was that Tears in the Rain monologue.

Don't get me wrong, I think both films are A+ but I think I might have to give a slight edge to the original Blade Runner just for that monologue alone. It's like having to choose between two delicious af cakes in front of you, but I might choose the original just because it has that one cherry on top lol

Maybe I should watch it a second time. I might change my opinion...

It has gotten great critic and audience reviews but it’s not pulling the masses. I hope at least it doesn’t become a box office bomb

I'm sad this film isnt doing that well in the box office. this could be a setback for denis villeneuve's career and he makes great movies.

Way too long. I know it's supposed to help the viewer immerse themselves in the environment, but I felt it went past that into self-indulgence for the director. I wish there had been more scenes in the city instead of just Ryan Gosling wandering around alone in depressing ruins. The new one is also sorely lacking the noir vibe of the original.

The villains in the new one are nowhere near as compelling as Pris or Roy from the original. K has a more interesting storyline than Deckard's in the original, but I like Deckard's hard-boiled detective persona more.

I love the original Blade Runner and BR2049 doesn't tarnish it or anything, which is good. I'm too in love with the original to judge this one properly lol...
