Lil Pump Gains, BTS Debuts on Streaming Songs Chart

  Lil Pump’s “Gucci Gang†is the chart’s greatest gainer, while BTS becomes the first K-pop group to make the tally.

 

A week after appearing on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart for the first time, Lil Pump is the chart’s greatest gainer on the ranking dated Oct. 14, leaping 50-19 with “Gucci Gang.â€

 

The track, which racked up 14.4 million streams in the week ending Sept. 28, according to Nielsen Music, gained 40 percent. It earned bumps across all reporting services as the song — and artist — continues to gain steam and notoriety among U.S. listeners. That includes a 42-21 jump on the On-Demand Streaming Songs chart, which measures on-demand audio streams, gathering 8.1 million in all, up 28 percent.

 

“Gucci Gang†makes a similarly sizable leap on the Billboard Hot 100, where it moves 71-52. Like Streaming Songs, it’s Lil Pump’s first entry on the chart. He’s also nearing the top 10 on Hot Rap Songs, bumping 24-13.

 

On Sept. 25, the rapper announced the release date for his self-titled debut mixtape, out Oct. 6.

 

‘DNA’ of a Streaming Hit: BTS pops onto the Streaming Songs chart for the first time with “DNA,†which bows at No. 38 with 11.4 million streams. That’s a 114 percent jump in its second week out and is assisted by prominent playlist placement on Spotify’s New Music Friday, where it was listed as the first song before the playlist refreshed Sept. 29.

 

BTS becomes the first K-pop group to make the Streaming Songs chart and the genre’s second appearance overall, following PSY’s three entries between 2013-2014 (all of which were top fives on the chart).

 

The track reaches a new peak on the Hot 100, rising 85-67 -- the best rank yet for a K-pop group.

 

‘Havana’ Hits Streaming Chart: Camila Cabello’s “Havana,†featuring Young Thug, bows at No. 45 with 11.8 million streams, up 22 percent. It’s Cabello’s third appearance on Streaming Songs but her first as the sole lead artist. Her previous hits “I Know What You Did Last Summer†(No. 28, Feb. 20, 2016) and “Bad Things†(No. 11, Feb. 11) were jointly billed with Shawn Mendes and Machine Gun Kelly, respectively.

 

A performance of “Havana†on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which was also uploaded to her YouTube page, helps boost Cabello onto the chart (and to a new peak of No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100).

 

‘Fall’ Rises: A viral tweet of Post Malone performing his 2016 song “I Fall Apart†(from his album Stoney) brings the track to new prominence, debuting at No. 49 on Streaming Songs. It accrued 10.1 million streams, up from 4.1 million. That also helps the song to a No. 65 debut on the Hot 100, and a bow at No. 37 on Digital Song Sales (15,000 downloads).
