ever since i broke up with my boyfriend, about five months ago, my friends keep trying to set me up with people (mostly their classmates, some coworkers)

i'm not sure how i'd feel about it tbh. i haven't given it much thought so far because i'm not looking for a relationship right now either way, but even if i was, i don't know if i'd be comfortable going on a date with someone i've never met :u

how do you feel about blind dates? have you ever been on one? is it common in your culture?

Sure, why not? I've had friends who did Internet dating and it's kinda the sane thing. I have another friend who does the "it's just lunch" thing and had good comments about it. I could see myself doubt something like that.

It entirely depends on you whether you're at least a little bit comfortable about it. It's not that common in my culture, even if a friend "recommends" you someone they acquaint you before going on an actual date. I haven't personally done it, but I say go for it for the overall experience; you're going to meet a new person that you might like either romantically or as a friend.

Ive never been on one. Though im not completely opposed to the idea.

Also my friends would never even think to try and set me up with someone, I think you have better friends than me lmao

lol it might just be a cultural thing tho, or the fact that 90% of my friends are in relationships lmao

If it's someone close to a friend I prefer to hang out all together with 3-4 more people and then date if we are interested in each other, blinds dates are too awkward and straightforward to me

why don't you meet in a group with your friends? that would be less awkward

idk, i'd feel more awkward in a group tbh

because the rest of the group would know it's a set up lol then it'd just be a blind date with a live audience which sounds terrifying imo

i guess it depends on the personality of the person in question tho, i can see how that might help some people

Maybe... the idea of it might be fun and exciting but I would be afraid of everything being awful in practice, but whatever I think there is where the thrill lies. From my nature I'm not very keen on taking that type of 'risks' without having any type of control about whom I'm meeting so I would just hope for my friends acutally trying to set me up with someone nice they genuinely think I can get along with.
