Divergent [Book Recommendation]

Are there book nerds here? I love reading (children's) books and the recent one I've finished is Divergent by Veronica Roth. It is a lot like Hunger Games without the hunger and the killing game. The main character is a girl named Beatrice and the book's in her point of view, just like Bella without the whining.

The setting is like in hunger games, post apocalyptic. The city is divided in factions but they all live together. On a certain age, people are sorted into their own faction. The story comes in when Beatrice' test resulted to more than one compatible faction, hence she's called divergent.

The film is already in the making I believe.

That book is flawless tbh.

You've read Insurgent? I haven't got a copy yet. I remember liking the first Hunger Games book and getting disappointed with the next ones.

its like the hunger games, only theres a big gap in quality

not as complex, characters not well-developed

setting not as good, descriptions not good at all

not at all a literary work tbh

a 14 year-old can write like that. the structure, the vocabulary. 'low-quality' ..

but yeah, the story is entertaining, but theres nothing much more to it

it could only be a movie, no need for this to be a book when theres not many literary traits to it

Hm, I heard good things about Divergent from a couple of friends. I read 6 chapters in B&N, and it's fairly decent. I remember thinking the main character was kinda indecisive and bipolar while reading, but I forget why.

On the other hand, Katniss was a terrible main character in The Hunger Games. The plotline just carried her.

I've read it! It's a pretty good book! My friends and I were all obsessed when we first read it. I also own 'Insurgent', I read halfway but never got around to finishing the whole thing. Anyone excited for the movie? I seriously don't know if I'll go watch it. I'm really not into the girl playing Tris and the guy play Four is 28. Dear god.
