what's the problem with this new generation?

like really what's wrong with y'all thinking that

in western countries we live in some sort of wonderland

where rape and slut shaming disappeared and man and women

became totally equal?

like have you been so sheltered, or since you've never been exposed

to these things, you don't care cause it never happened to you personally?

I live in a huge city like it's 3rd biggest city here in France

yet sadly every single one of my female friends have at some point

in their lives and most of the time early in their life, suffered from a sexual assault

EVERY SINGLE FUCKING ONE

like let that sink in

don't you find it horrible?

and in all of these cases the guy got away with it

because my friends felt ashamed, they never talked about

with their relatives

There was a documentary about sexual

assault and cat calling on tv yesterday

and I truly felt ashamed of this new generation

you had young people in middle school, and high school saying

that a girl should expect to suffered some kind of assault

if she wear something too revealing

whereas some people in their 50 had no problem with it

you have girls in high school being afraid to wear a dress

and a long one too because there are boys in their school

going around in their corridors assaulting every girl that's not wearing pants

Listen don't come around talking about

I'm a fucking SJW or I'm victimising women

like I'm done with that shit people pull to stop conversations

from happening, these thing make me so angry

because I have so many friends that's been affected by it

So every time I hear things like feminism is only needed

in middle eastern countries, or rape culture doesn't exist

it just makes me wanna punch you dumbasses in your dumb ass face

just because it's never happened to you doesn't mean it doesn't exist

you may not agree with the way some women chose to fight these things

but at least try to understand before discrediting them

It's alarming that there are people who think it's cute to compare instances of rape to a culture that people were raised to do.

oh I've seen you in that other thread

and your comments are literally giving me cancer just saying

if you think you're being edgy or cool

do us all a favour shut your big fat mouth

and go educate yourself a little bit

Lmao, you don't need to be edgy to know comparing rape to a culture is stupid lmao

Well granted you know they teach you that rape culture is in fact very real in any given sociology course level, you're the dumbass here.

like the user said above, keep your edgy and misinformed opinions.

When I was in high school we would wear kilts (similar to skirts) and some girls would be told to get longer kilts or to stop "rolling their skirts up" because theirs are too "short". Like fuck you. Cause guys can't control themselves we have to oblige to your shit?

I've been groped more times than I can count

this is just awful I don't know how long it will take before

the people in power realise that the length of the skirt isn't the problem

and adress the core issue that is causing all this bs

I've been cat-called often ever since I was 12 and I had this very disgusting experience in a bus where I was standing and some ramdon man tried to stick his body to mine as much as possible to the point where I could feel the tip of his... Yeah, and there was plenty of space on the bus so he was clearly doing it on purpose, I got away from him at the first chance I got, is one of the most awful experiences i've ever had.

My high school was only 4 houses away from mine and since I was extremely shy I didn't really have that much of a social life so my family didn't worry too much about me in that sense, but i'm gearing up for university at the end of this month after a gap year and my mom has been continuously telling me all possible ways of avoiding a rape or sexual assault during my stay in the school i'm going to: "It doesn't matter who it is do not say yes to a guy offering to take you home", "you will probably have to sit on the floor a lot and you'll have to walk so always wear pants or shorts but never skirts", "guys stare, do not stare at them back", and she always finishes it with the same sentence "There are tons of rapists in the world so you have to take care of yourself".

Because i'm an introvert to an extreme I did not had many instances where I would have to be constantly out while being in high school except for my last year, and again high school was only 4 houses away, but university is far away and although I have matured and I feel like I can take care of myself she constantly worries about me and yes, is very alarming indeed, I am sure i'm not the only one who gets constantly told this by their family (especifically mother) and when you have to take care of yourself as much as possible for the sole reason of being a woman you see that there IS a problem, there are a lot of people who still puts the blame on the woman in rape cases and is extremely upsetting.

Rape culture is a very real thing and everyone needs to educate themselves about it, especially women because we are the ones who are the most vulnerable when it comes to it because we are always at risk of getting assaulted.

It honestly pisses me off when people think we're overreacting in regards to catcalling, or that we should "appreciate" the gesture.

sorry we don't view it positively when we've been catcalled and harassed as children and teenagers far enough in one life time to be sickened by it as adults.

i was in an all girls school and they said that to us too so i doubt it has anything to do with men.

nobody is saying it's men's fault

it's the structure of our societies and education

that is inherently wrong

I used non gender specific terms

in my post nowadays women are just as harsh

as men when it comes to shaming women
