I wonder how choreography business works in kpop. do choreographers design choreo based on request from agency & charge differently depending on the complexity of choreo? sunny choreographed the iconic dances of dc, she also choreographed for rv & gf, but her choreo for np is simple compared to those. another nugu group lipbubble which sunny choreo-ed for also have the same "problem" like np.

I believe it can be a combination of both. Usually companies have a vision for what they want to do and it's up to the choreographer to help portray that vision. However, the choreographer can also be limited by the members themselves and what they can and can't do. May says she has a really hard time because of how her arms overextend. Also, from what I've seen, I don't think all NeonPunch members are as good at dancing as DC or GF members. In those groups I think they're all really good dancers with some being standouts like SuA in DC. In NeonPunch, Iaan is always standing out to me with her dancing compared to the other members.

I think a good example of limited dancing is from Eric Nam's song Honestly. He had Tina Boo choreograph it (she's with him in the video), but obviously his dance skills are awful, but practice along with the choreography she put together made him look halfway decent. In the same video, you can see Choi Jaewoo from PD101 Season 2 (at 3:27) do the same dance and because he's a great dancer makes it look easy and adds a bit of his own flair to it:

However, none of this explains the focus on leg movements unless Sunny thinks it will make NeonPunch stand out or the girls like doing them or something.
