It took 19 years for a female rapper to get #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart

Its unbelievable that it took this long for a female rapper to get #1.

Lauryn Hill achieved #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 in 1998 with "Doo Woop" off of her critically acclaimed "The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill" album.

Now Cardi has #1 song in the country, shocking isn't it that in the past 19 years female rappers who have been in the game for a long long time were unable to achieve such monumental success.

Missy Elliott, Eve, Lil Kim, Trina, Queen Latifah weren't able to top the charts. Missy came close with "Loose Control" and "Work It".

Lil Kim had a #1 on Billboard but it was a collab with Mya, Christina Aguilera and Pink on "Lady Marmalade"

The big question is how Cardi is gonna sustain it and prove people she isn't a one hit wonder

She's with Atlantic Records the same label that Sia, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, David Guetta, Missy Elliott, K.Michelle, Wiz and a lot others are on.

I can totally see a collab between David Guetta and Cardi happening next summer, something like what he did with Nicki on Turn Me On. Or something with Flo Rida since he's also signed with Atlantic Records.
