We’re amping up for the final stretch as our heroes close in on Jo Gap-soo. He’s a slippery devil, however, and they find a find that there are still more hurdles to jump before they catch him. Meanwhile, Jo makes a few discoveries of his own that could prove dire.

EPISODE 14 RECAP

WC14-00011.jpg

In court, Jin-wook reveals that Tae-gyu’s team had fabricated the brass knuckle evidence incriminating Min-ho. Lawyer Heo counters that the lab technician who analyzed the glove incriminating Tae-gyu has recently resigned for embezzlement. Ruling that both the glove and knuckles now lack credibility, the judge dismisses them from evidence and asks Jin-wook if he has anything else to offer in Min-ho’s defense.

Smiling from his vantage point above, Chairman Ahn smugly tells his secretary that they might as well leave since the trial is practically over. Just as he turns to go, however, the courtroom doors swing open and Yi-deum steps inside. Introducing herself as Min-ho’s new lawyer, she points at Tae-gyu and accuses him of Soo-ah’s murder.

WC14-00023.jpg

In a warning tone, the judge asks if she has proof and Yi-deum holds up a flash drive containing the damning video of Tae-gyu brutally beating Soo-ah the night she died. As the video plays, Soo-ah’s grandmother sobs and even Lawyer Heo has to look away in horror.

Jin-wook states that Tae-gyu lied and even manipulated evidence in order to pin the blame on Min-ho. He asserts that Tae-gyu lacks remorse and should therefore serve a life sentence in prison. Overturning the previous verdict, the judge agrees to give Tae-gyu life in prison while Min-ho’s sentence is reduced to five years’ probation.

WC14-00027.jpg WC14-00030.jpg

A protesting Tae-gyu is removed, as Yi-deum and Jin-wook share a cute thumbs-up.

Reeling from shock, Chairman Ahn stumbles out of the courtroom and calls Jo Gap-soo. Jo’s pleasantries are cut off when his brother-in-law accuses him of knowing about the video. Initially confused, Jo’s expression hardens as Chairman Ahn cries that the video condemned Tae-gyu to life in prison.

Jumping back two days, we return to Lawyer Min, Yi-deum, and Jin-wook as they watch the footage of Soo-ah’s beating. They realize that Jo Gap-soo will try to bury the existence of Kingdom when the video is revealed. Knowing that they need to expose it quickly, Lawyer Min worries about Jo’s influence in the media industry, but Jin-wook says he knows just the person to help them.

WC14-00040.jpg

Which is where Reporter Han enters the picture. She explains that after leaving her previous job, she’d started reporting via the internet and vows to expose Jo and Kingdom.

Presently, Jo Gap-soo’s secretary informs him of a disconcerting news report circulating online. It turns out to be Reporter Han’s exposé of Tae-gyu’s trial and she expands on both Kingdom and the sketchy dealings played out with admissions at Hanguk University. Tae-gyu, an alum, had attended a grand total of two weeks and yet his report card reflected straight As, even earning him a scholarship. What’s more, he’s not the only one.

Jo trembles with rage as Reporter Han demands a special investigation of Kingdom, then he throws a potted plant like a petulant child. In his cell, Tae-gyu hears the guards calling for Min-ho and leaps to his feet. He demands to know why Min-ho is being released (um, weren’t you at the trial?). The scene mirrors Tae-gyu’s release after the last trial and Min-ho can’t help but smirk at the irony. Dressed in his own clothes, Min-ho retrieves his personal effects. The last item gives him pause, and tears well up in his eyes as he stares down at the deed for the house Sang-ho had bought for him.

WC14-00066.jpg WC14-00068.jpg

Stepping outside the facility’s walls, Min-ho takes his first breath of freedom in months. Yi-deum is there to greet him, but she cuts off his thanks to ask for the “debt†his brother owes her. At Min-ho’s confusion, Yi-deum whips out her phone to show him Sang-ho’s final text. In it, he’d said that should anything happen to him, he’d left the evidence with Min-ho.

Yi-deum explains that Sang-ho had committed a severe crime against her, and had died trying to make amends. Min-ho admits that he doesn’t know anything, so Yi-deum tells him to call her if he figures anything out.

COMMENTS

Finally!!! Holy cheese on toast, I feared we’d never gain solid footing against Jo Gap-soo. Jo has managed to elude our heroes at every turn and not even because he’s particularly crafty, or covers his tracks well… I mean, he still has Sang-ho’s journal, for Pete’s sake! That was chock-full of evidence against him and he keeps it? For what, sentimental reasons? But no, Jo manages to wriggle away solely thanks to his never-ending web of connections and lucky happenstance. He’s a villain who never truly squirms because he always has an easy out and that chaps my buns.

Not to mention, the convenient way that he suddenly realized that the woman he’d ran into was Mom. He hadn’t recognized her when they’d met, or even seemed to register her face at all, so I find it so bizarre that he would have such an “Aha!†moment. Thank goodness Nurse Choi escaped with Mom before Jo’s henchman had the opportunity to comply with his boss’ orders. But now I’m curious as to who tipped her off. Sang-ho is gone and I doubt Dr. Ko knew anything. My only guess is maybe Nurse Choi noticed something wasn’t right… but either way, I doubt they’re in the clear.

As for our heroes, how funny is Jin-wook dipping his toes into Yi-deum’s not-so-moral waters? I loved his face when Yi-deum made him flash his (suspended) badge and fib. I don’t think Jin-wook is going to the dark side anytime soon, but I like that he’s learning to bend the rules now and then. On the other hand, Yi-deum is learning to rely on others (even if Jin-wook had to resort to petty means in order to get her to divulge her backup plan). I like seeing our leads take these baby steps of growth while not losing sight of the people they are.

WC14-00223.jpg

I was a bit miffed with Min-ho for bartering with Sang-ho’s journal. I understand he wanted the truth behind his brother’s death but I feel like that would naturally come to light when they exposed Jo Gap-soo’s laundry list of criminal activity. And the fact that he had to be convinced to give them the journal in order to get Jo at the end struck me as unnatural. It seems like this was just a convenient filler mission before the final week.

With only two episodes to go, I do wonder if we have enough time to wrap everything up. We’ve spent so much time chasing Jo Gap-soo in circles, that I’m worried as to whether we’ll get satisfactory resolutions for the things I actually care about. Like Yi-deum’s reunion with Mom (I’m still concerned about Mom’s memory… she saw Jo and showed no signs of recognition or fear) and her relationship with Jin-wook! For the time being, they seem to have pushed the conflict with Dr. Ko aside, but it’s not like it’s gone away. Is it too much to ask that we resolve all the problems and still have time for kisses?

On the upside, we’ve gained some more allies while Jo Gap-soo has been throwing away his cohorts like candy at a parade. I don’t see how he’ll weasel out of the oncoming storm (and will ragequit like nobody’s business if he does) but I’m sure he won’t go down without a fight. With just one week left, I’m interested to see how their final battle will play out.

Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

  • Witch’s Court: I’m loving it. Especially that scene where Yi-deum had fallen to her lowest of lows and was carting around cleaning supplies while Jo Gap-soo was surrounded by his yes-men—that could and would have turned into a self-pity party in any other drama. But Yi-deum totally turned the tables on him, making him flinch in fear as she charged right at him with her dirty mop, and it was a refreshingly awesome moment. I do wish her mom had stayed dead though; it seems a little too late to bring her back into the story when the entire reason for Yi-deum’s life for the past twenty years has been to avenge/find her mother.

Witch's Court' Jung Ryeo-won vs Jeon Gwang-ryul, Final Big Match '

[Woohwi's court], which left only two times to Jongyoung, focuses attention on Jungryeonwon and Jeon Gwang Ryul's final big match. Jung Ryeo-won, who appeared as a specialist at the end of the last 14 days, announced the start of a special investigation that set Jeon Gye-ryeol on the spot. Her interest in the future is gathering attention, and her big-match watching points to be unveiled next week will be revealed to stimulate curiosity. KBS 2TV TV drama 'Witch's Court' is a mysterious woman who was forced to be involved in unexpected events during high-speed on the highway on the highway. Yoon Hyun-min), a criminal investigative act that deals with the ugly reality crime cases,

In the last 14 broadcasts, it was announced that the full revenge for Chae Gwang-su (Jeon Gwang-ryul) was to begin, as the figure of Kim Sang-kwo returned to the prosecutor's office as a special report. I have gathered the last minute point 3 that will add fun to the last broadcast next week with the attention being paid to how to dig up the gangster '

In the past 14 broadcasts, it has been revealed that there are two 'secret notebooks' of Baek Sang-ho (Hur Sung-tae, hereinafter referred to as Bae Seung-tae) The first one was killed by mutual acquaintance, and the other was taken from Baek Min-ho (Kim Kwon-min), his brother's brother. In this way, both Gyu-su and Gyu-sang have got a "secret notebook". I can not be sure of which one of the two notebooks is a true 'secret notebook', but I am wondering what kind of confrontation will be done by Lee and Gap.

In addition to the secret notebook, the next and the next are holding tug-of-war with each other. The next year, he holds information about his fountain pen, which is the decisive evidence that he killed the White Chief, and his other weakness, his wife. On the other hand, Gapu was aware of Kwak Young-sil's (weakness) who could be the weak point of the next. It will be a major point of view for their final big match how the two will use their own weapons.

â–¶ The last minute watching point 2. Death crisis Mourin Young-Sil, daughter Can you rendezvous with mother and daughter?

Gapu recalled that Gapu had encountered Young-sil at the marina, and through the 'secret notebook' of Baek Sang-ho, he discovered the location of Young-sil at the time of Choi Kyung-ja (Seo Ju-hee) It made the people who ordered to remove them without hesitating to let them know that Spirit and the light are in a sluggish state.

Earlier this year, when he heard that Young Chil had died from a fire incident 14 years ago, he was more immersed in revenge for the party leader. Therefore, I wonder how and when I will know that Youngsil is not dead, and I wonder whether YoungSil will be able to escape from the threat of Gap and meet with the next one.

â–¶ Last minute watching point 3. 'Witch Combination' What is the relationship between the two?

The witch chemi is ripe as Kim Jin-wook and Kim Jin-wook solve the case through repeated investigations. There is a growing interest in the synergies of the two men, who will play another combo in the upcoming "Cho Gap-soo" . In the past, Jin-wook and Jin-wook both made a strange relationship by knowing the ghosts between Gap-suk-suk-young-suk, In the next three months, the lawyer is back in front of Jin-wook and he is working with lawyers and prosecutors to build new relationships. In the middle of the investigation, the view of Duksu and Jin-wook who are thinking and worrying about each other stimulates the curiosity of viewers about what will change in their relationship in the future. Meanwhile, 'Witch' s Court 'will be broadcasted at 10:15 pm on Monday, the 27th.

“Witch’s Court†CP Praises Jung Ryeo Won’s Ability To Develop Drama Characters
Jung-Ryeo-Won-Yoon-Hyun-Min11.jpg

On November 28, chief producer Ji Byung Hyun of the KBS Monday-Tuesday drama “Witch’s Court†held an interview on the drama’s successful run.

The drama initially began its run with the lowest ratings compared to other dramas that were airing in the same time slot. However, it eventually achieved first place in its time slot and concluded with its highest ratings ever.

Ji Byung Hyun stated, “I feel satisfied now that the drama has ended. I’m happy that the results of the drama were good.†He attributed the drama’s success to the script, directing, but most of all to the actors, and highly praised lead actress Jung Ryeo Won.

He explained, “Jung Ryeo Won is an actress who brings her fellow actors’ strengths to life, and brings a cheerful energy on set. For instance, she created the character of Chief Gu. Chief Gu is originally a very comic character, but Jung Ryeo Won really enjoyed the character’s grumbling and nagging, and suggested, ‘Let’s continue with this.’ When she worked with Yoon Hyun Min, she also picked out his character’s strengths and suggested they highlight them.â€

He continued, “I think Jung Ryeo Won was able to find her own strengths through this drama. I believe she will have gained more confidence in herself and her acting. Ma Yi Deum was a good experience for her acting career. She’s an actress worthy of the ‘Actress of the Year’ award.â€

Ji Byung Hyun also praised Yoon Hyun Min and stated, “He’s an incredibly sincere actor. He always brought his script with him and continuously discussed things. Because he’s so polite it made everyone want to treat him even better. When the production crew was tired he was the one who gave us strength.â€

  • Witch’s Court: Episode 15

This might be the most perfect episode of Witch’s Court so far. Not perfect quality, but the perfect representation of the show, in all its strengths and weaknesses: infuriating coincidences disguised as plot, surprisingly effective minor characters, boring bad guys, fist-pumping moments of triumph, great emotional pay-off—and above all, Ma Yi-deum at the center of it all. So come on folks, let’s get ready for the showdown.

EPISODE 15 RECAP

We rewind a little, to just before Nurse Choi and Mom ran away from the hospital. Jo Gap-soo, having discovered that Mom was still alive from Sang-ho’s diary, orders his henchman to kill the completely unaware pair.

Meanwhile, by coincidence Dr. Ko is filming a segment of her show on the island, and runs into Nurse Choi in the halls. Although Dr. Ko is pleased to see Nurse Choi again, the nurse is antsy at the encounter, and rebuffs Dr. Ko’s offer to catch up over tea.

WC15_00035.jpg WC15_00033.jpg

Instead, Nurse Choi finds out that there has been a package delivered to her—and to Mom. On high alert, Nurse Choi clocks what is going on when she spies the “deliveryman†hunting through her room. Nurse Choi urges a very confused Mom to grab her important items because they need to leave NOW.

The henchman arrives at Mom’s room… to find it empty and ransacked.

Nurse Choi and Mom make it safely to the dock, but Mom refuses to go any further without an explanation. Nurse Choi sighs and tells a half-truth—that she owes money to a loan shark, who will kill both of them if they are found. Satisfied for now, Mom follows Nurse Choi outside.

WC15_00078.jpg WC15_00080.jpg

Desperately searching for cover, Nurse Choi hustles Mom away—and straight towards Dr. Ko’s car. Indignant at the intrusion, Dr. Ko’s surprise turns to horror as she realizes her passenger is none other than Mom, although Nurse Choi lies that it’s her sister.

Unfortunately, the henchman spots Nurse Choi and Mom from afar, even though they duck low in their seats. Nurse Choi pleads with Dr. Ko to save them, andDr. Ko drives away from the henchmen. Their luck hasn’t run out yet—Dr. Ko drives onto the ferry just in time, but the henchmen in pursuit (quite literally) misses the boat. Furious, the henchman orders the security at the other end of the ferry to search for Dr. Ko’s car and remove Nurse Choi and Mom.

WC15_00115.jpg

Which does him no good, since Dr. Ko was savvy enough to switch places with her assistant. All three are safely ensconced in the back of the production van as the security futilely search Dr. Ko’s car. To Dr. Ko’s consternation, Nurse Choi admits that she and Mom don’t have anywhere to go now.

Predictably, Jo Gap-soo is not happy that Mom has been lost, and he beats the henchman in displeasure. The henchman promises to find the pair through their cellphones.

Meanwhile, our team triumphantly announces their special investigation to a cadre of eager reporters. It’s nice to see Lawyer Min back in total command as she declares that the team will focus on finding the truth behind the crimes, and will not be swayed by rank or privilege in their duty.

WC15_00160.jpg

Ma Yi-deum takes her turn in the spotlight as she steps up to field questions. She brandishes Sang-ho’s diary as the evidence which contains details of Jo Gap-soo’s lobbying, and promises to release the contents as soon as they can.

With few alternatives, Dr. Ko hides Mom and Nurse Choi in her home. Alone with Dr. Ko, Nurse Choi explains that she couldn’t allow Mom to be killed after Mom had saved her from the fire, and that it was easy to live as sisters because Mom woke up from her coma with amnesia. With a heavy heart, Nurse Choi admits that she knew about Ma Yi-deum’s existence.

COMMENTS

No, Mom, no! Jo Gap-soo is a cornered rat at this point, and I’m not looking forward to what he might do out of desperation. Or insanity. Because he’d have to be insane to think that kidnapping or killing Mom right now is going to help him in any way, other than to satisfy preemptive revenge.

Overall, I have found this show to be… exasperating. Not because it’s bad, but because I wanted it to be so much better than it was. In particular, I wanted it to be better for Jung Ryeo-won. Ma Yi-deum has cemented her place as my favorite K-drama heroine of this year, and I’m just sad that she was stuck in the middling drama that Witch’s Court turned out to be. Yi-deum is brash, smart (and a smart-ass), determined and charismatic.

But she’s also manipulative, morally grey, selfish and reckless. I adore her. I am impressed that the drama managed to create a tour de force personality like Yi-deum, and frustrated that it stumbled so hard on the rest of the drama. After a brilliant premiere and a few interesting insights into sexual assault cases, the show has settled in the doldrums for many weeks now. The focus on the bad guys drained the show of tension, and our heroes and villains are running around each other carrying out the most eye-rolling or simplistic plans. Threads have been dropped (what happened to Yi-deum’s childhood friend?) or never fully explored (why do we care about Lawyer Heo again?) and it has resulted in a very lopsided drama.

On the other hand, an episode of Witch will always have something good in it too. Like the team getting back together—I didn’t think I would, but I have missed the familial and funny vignettes our team brought to the show. So it was lovely to see them get a good outing in this episode as we come to the close. Mom’s amnesia means that she didn’t just abandon Yi-deum for noble idiocy reasons—and raises the intriguing possibility that Yi-deum genuinely did see Mom in the fog that night as a teenager. I also felt moments of genuine triumph this week—like when Jin-wook, Min, and Yi-deum stood outside watching their prey Jo Gap-soo inside the interrogation room. I have also loved seeing Min and Yi-deum come to a better understanding, and place of empathy, for each other—every shared look and private strategy they came up with together shouted that these two are finally working in sync. Yi-deum and Min are the only ones who have really gone through hell and back trying to catch Jo Gap-soo—not even Jin-wook can match them for length and intensity of hatred.

WC15_00331.jpg

Which was the other great thing about this episode—Yi-deum and Jin-wook. Here are two people that shouldn’t work as well together as they do. They were so cute last week, and today their deeper connection is on display. It speaks volumes that Yi-deum was willing to let go of the reins of her mother’s investigation so quickly, simply because it was Jin-wook that they were being handed to. She trusts him fully, even knowing that Jin-wook will need to sacrifice his own mother for Mom’s justice. In that heartfelt conversation between the two, finally there was the raw emotion that I was looking for. Yi-deum understands the magnitude of Jin-wook’s task, and rather than issuing demands, or ignoring his feelings, Yi-deum honestly acknowledges how difficult this will be for him. This is not the same Yi-deum from the start of the drama, but a more thoughtful woman. I’m not sure what this means for their relationship, though, because Jin-wook didn’t go to Yi-deum for comfort after he confronts his own mother. Perhaps because he feels alone in his grief or because a small part of him blames Yi-deum for exposing his mother’s misdeeds, perhaps because he feels that it would be a betrayal of Yi-deum and her Mom to mourn his own mother after what she did. Probably for all of those reasons.

But just as Jin-wook is losing his mother, Yi-deum is getting hers back. Jin-wook worshipped his mother, and she was the prominent influence on the good person he became—and he has had the tragic misfortune of seeing his idol brought low. At the same time, everything that Yi-deum has learned about her mother has proven that Mom was a great and strong person who stood up for what she believed in. It is ironic that the person Jin-wook thought his mom was (and desperately wanted her to be) is the person that Yi-deum’s mom actually was—and Yi-deum doesn’t care. Yi-deum didn’t want Mom to be good—she wanted Mom to be there, beside her, during those missing years. And Dr. Ko was a large part of the reason Mom was gone. While it’s true that Dr. Ko made a grievous mistake years ago, and is paying dearly for it now, I am hoping that her redemption arc brings Jin-wook closure (or that he finds comfort in Yi-deum’s arms!). Because I don’t think I can watch him cry like that again.

  • Witch’s Court: Episode 16 (Final)WC16-00420.jpg

We’ve reached the end of the road, and what a long road it’s been. Witch’s Courtcertainly had its flaws, but Ma Yi-deum will forever hold a special place in my heart. We have one more bad guy for her to put away so without further ado, let’s watch the witch work her magic one last time.

FINAL EPISODE RECAP

Yi-deum allows herself a tentative smile as she rides with Dr. Ko to finally meet Mom. Jin-wook follows close behind them in his own car.

Meanwhile, Mom gets up to answer the door, but instead of the daughter she can’t remember, Jo Gap-soo is there to greet her. Unfortunately, she can’t recognize him either and is unaware of the danger she puts herself in when she steps out to speak with him. Nooooo!

Mom asks who he is and Jo simply replies he’s known her a long time. Taking a few steps forward, he tells her he hadn’t known she was alive… and the eerie smile falls away as Jo’s expression darkens.

WC16-00017.jpg

Coming to a stop out front, Yi-deum leaps out of the car but a distraught Nurse Choi is waiting outside to meet them. She delivers the news that Mom has disappeared and Yi-deum struggles to comprehend that Mom has slipped through her fingers again. A text message arrives and when Yi-deum clicks it, she sees a picture of Mom, unconscious in the back seat of someone’s car.

Yi-deum sits anxiously in Jin-wook’s car. He gets in and tells her they’ve tracked the number the text came from but it’s a burner phone. Jin-wook says he’s tracking the phone itself and reassures Yi-deum that the kidnapper will call again. She wonders what the assailant could want just as her phone rings.

WC16-00026.jpg WC16-00024.jpg

Shocked to hear Jo Gap-soo’s voice, Yi-deum demands to know if he took Mom. Jo tuts that she shouldn’t have cornered him, citing that he’s the kind of person that kills anyone that gets in his way and steps on the corpses to get a leg up. Yi-deum doesn’t care to listen to his threats and asks where he’s hidden Mom.

Jo replies only that Mom is alive. Infuriated, Yi-deum shouts that she’ll hunt him down and kill him if he lays a finger on her. Jin-wook warns her to focus on Mom, so Yi-deum swallows her anger and asks to see her. Jo bargains to exchange Mom for Sang-ho’s journal, and while she can’t see what good it would do him now, he uses Mom’s life as leverage.

“I killed her once already,†says Jo, “I can kill her again.†He gives her an hour to bring the journal.

WC16-00030.jpg

Yi-deum rushes back to the office and retrieves the journal, but Lawyer Min and Jin-wook block her from leaving with it. Yi-deum pleads that Mom could die without it, but they reason that Jo won’t harm Mom until he has the journal. Additionally, if she hands it over, she’ll lose both because there’s no way Jo will play nice.

Mi-young informs them that she’s traced the phone to a different location than the drop spot. Lawyer Min sends Jin-wook to the phone’s location to look for Mom and Yi-deum offers to take the journal and see Jo. She dismisses the idea of backup, since it would only make Jo suspicious, and promises to buy time to find Mom.

COMMENTS

Oh, what this drama could’ve been… I’ll admit that the ending was fitting, but that’s not exactly praise when you consider that the drama really tumbled downhill to the point where my expectations were pretty low, here at the end. The show did manage to tie up what it deemed to be it’s important loose ends with the return of Mom (and her memory), Jo Gap-soo crazy and on death row, and the last five minutes of cuteness that promise a future for the romance of Yi-deum and Jin-wook. I actually found myself giggling more in those dwindling moments than I have the entire drama… but that may be partially attributed to hysteria. Who’s to say?

I feel like I’ve complained nearly all drama about the mess that is Jo Gap-soo, but kindly indulge me one last time. I hate that his character was so weakly written that I could never understand his motives apart from being eeeeeeevil. His lack of cunning was never more obvious than when he kidnapped Mom (again) in a final power play for… what? I won’t ask why he needed that journal when there were two, but I do question what possessed him to even grasp at it as his final straw. He was already royally screwed and I was surprised that he wasn’t immediately ousted from his position after Sang-ho’s dirty deeds book was exposed, since I feel like the scandal would be enough to jeopardize his political favor.

So why did he think he could blackmail his way out of it? He had to know the evidence was stacked against him. Not to mention that all the people Sang-ho had gathered dirt on were already coated in mud. The smart option in that scenario would be to get out of the country. Instead, he goes up on a mountain to talk to his dead friend before attempting suicide. I’d say it was out of character, but he didn’t really have a discernable character to speak of.

As for the other characters, most of them were wasted. Lawyer Min was underutilized, my hopes for Lawyer Heo died out halfway through when we had no development with her. They completely skimmed over Dr. Ko’s conflict with Yi-deum at the end so I suppose she was forgiven. At the very least, her testimony will allow her to reconcile with her son. Mom was more compelling and while I feel like her sudden recovery was a tad fantastical, I’ll give it a pass because it was good to see her and Yi-deum happy for once—they certainly earned it.

Jin-wook pulled out his cute side in this final stretch but I wish we could’ve seen more of it. All in all, aside from Yi-deum (who I adore wholeheartedly), the most interesting character was Sang-ho… and they killed him off halfway through! There is no question that this show was carried on Yi-deum’s shoulders because without her, there would be no point in watching. I won’t linger on her praises—we’d be here all day and Helcat already expressed it better than I could in the last recap. Lastly, I’d like to give an honorable mention to Yi-deum’s old sunbae Hoon-soo because I did find him amusing every time he was on the screen.

I don’t mind the way they wrapped up the romance because with the way it’s been handled over the course of the drama, I don’t think there was any other way. Sweeping confessions and passionate kisses just feel out of place after shoving the romance aside for so long. I do like Jin-wook and Yi-deum together but I also admit the chemistry that sizzled in the beginning has settled into something closer to badass partners than lovers. Regardless, I wish them all the best as they venture forward.
