Leicester 3,853
Different groups, different music styles/trends, not as many idols debuted in 2012 as compared to now, mainly because there has recently been a huge saturation in the idol market. The main differences tend to lie in the changing of music styles and the idol industry as time goes on and we become more experienced. There have also been changes made to accommodate international fans more, as more people are getting into kpop as the years go on, as well with the increase of attention on things like YouTube views or stuff like Spotify plays or iTunes charting Edited September 23, 2017 by What?!

NINI 16,268
I'm pretty sure YouTube views were always obsessed over and there were certainly goals. Just not as much as they are now I got into Kpop in 2013 and I am not sure about 2012 but I can tell you the majority didn't really care about getting "x views in 24 hours" "x views in 1 month" etcetc. Sure, we wanted our group/s to get a lot of views but 80% of the comments were about the music/MV and not about the so called "goals" lol.

Exactly. People were amazed at Psy's YT numbers but it wasn't like today where people spend hours and hours mass streaming YT views.

QueenYoung 931
After School released music lol Well for me most of the kpop groups I like released music in that year, now nearly all of them are gone. Other than that I think SNS has become a bit more important with IG accounts even though the twitter trend has died down a bit.

snowdjinn 5,655
I think 2012 songs are better for dancing Yes, i feel like around 2012 i would just get a good beat and a good dance song with a good dance. Simple but Fun. Today it seems more complicated and more "artsy" ? i agree with You. Different groups, different music styles/trends, not as many idols debuted in 2012 as compared to now, mainly because there has recently been a huge saturation in the idol market. The main differences tend to lie in the changing of music styles and the idol industry as time goes on and we become more experienced. There have also been changes made to accommodate international fans more, as more people are getting into kpop as the years go on, as well with the increase of attention on things like YouTube views or stuff like Spotify plays or iTunes charting How do you think the music style changed ? Maybe from simple dance song to complicated "artsy" songs ? Yes, Korea adjusts to international fans and by doing so they slowly destroy the fun part of KPOP and it just becomes worldwide Pop. Vaelin 6,957
2012 was the year I got into kpop and everything was new cool and exciting. Now I'm only here out of habit. and because I have no life. Mostly everyone I cared about starting 2012 is gone now.
