How did you buy/choose your headphones/earphones?

I want to buy a pair of wireless headphones with really good music quality (to pair with this Chinese music thingy I’m going to buy) but I’m a technology idiot so I don’t know how to choose

Share your experience!

Oh if you have any tips for me I’ll greatly appreciate it as well thank you!

-wireless

-below $90

-volume has to be loud too (does headphones affect volume too or is it solely depended on the music itself?

I have these wireless headphones called Sol Republic: Shadow. I really like them because they block out noise quite well, they are quite sturdy, quite compact and they come with different sized earbud tips. The only downside is that they will fall off if you run but they are fine if you are just walking around or sitting.

I got them as a present but I think they were $80.

Edit: Normally I choose earbuds based on how small the earbud is because I have small earholes

I think Samsung earbuds are the best if you want something cheap but still good enough. Although there are better but more expensive brands out.

Most samsung earbuds last me like 3-4 months without breaking and they're only $12-$15.

There are some $40 brands that sound good, but are very cheaply made so they break easy, for example, one of them is called Skullcandy and they're terrible.

I'm talking about normal headphones to plug in your ears not actual giant headseats and such.

Someone told me the Bluetooth receptor is bad on those or they disconnect frequently? Did you have any problems with them?

I usually buy Sony ones but if you really are interested in 'quality', aside from those big expensive brands like Sony, Sennheiser, and Bose, you should look into Frequency specs usually it should be 20 (bass) to 20,000 Hz (good quality - good bass for me).

That's how I choose.

i usually buy ones around 30-40 on amazon. i have 2 wireless earbuds atm, but also wireless headphones. i use them depending on how long im going out. im usually out at work for awhile, so i'll bring my headphones since theyll stay alive longer, but if im not up for the bulk of that, i'll just charge both of my earbuds fully and they should last me the whole time, or close enough. going anywhere else im prob not out that long and will just use the earbuds because i actually dont like wearing headphones, my hair doesnt look good with it lol

oh sorry i dont have specific one in mind bc i've like3 diff headphones + 5 or 6 diff earbuds, the other ones have just broken over time or i broke them on accidnt bc im an idiot, im not very picky ab types.

Well, I went into the store wanting to find some top class headphones, because I use headphones so much, so I wanted a good pair. The price didn't really matter to me. I walked out of the store with a pair of BEATS headphones, but they're probably too expensive for your budget.

I'm very sure you could buy a better pair of wired heaphones, specially if you want to sound loud and clear but aside from the price range you want you also need to establish what type of use you want them for and what are pairing with.

If you want something to use with your iphone then I would recommend some over-ear headphones, those are the type that will cover your whole ear but be sure they're also closed back, so this way they would also isolate exterior sound. In-ear headphones are also fine to pair with an iphone or portable  device and they can also provide good isolation depending on the tips. The better they isolate the better sound experience they provide although it can be dangerous if they isolate too much sound and you plan on using them while walking/running on the street or riding a bicycle as you do want to hear a bit of your surroundings.

So I don't what are you pairing with and this goes slightly above your budget but I will go with this pair if I really wanted something with bluetooth connectivity.

They're Sony and seat on you ear, so this are a On-ear model:

and the over-ear model should provide better sound although maybe they're not worth the extra 30 dollars:

It would be better if you could go to a store and try this models or maybe some others, or like I said you could get wired headphones that are as good for cheaper.

You could also buy this and get the bluetooth module, is a lot cheaper and you could switch between using the cord or bluetooth:

  • 2 weeks later...

Honestly I have tried a few pairs of bluetooth earbuds and they all sucked terribly. Which is why I stuck to wired earbuds all the time.

The only bluetooth set which didn't suck was from Westone and that's out of your budget range. :( Personally my fav brand for around $90-$120 is Audio Technica.

You can read this recommendations article, quite a few are under $90. They highlighted certain reasons why they are good wireless headphones so you can see if they align with your criteria.

My only tip is to always go down to the store and try listening to the one you're interested in before buying.
