Initial D 2 confirmed!

Initial D Live Action Movie 2 News: å¯°äºžé›»å½± Media Asia Distribution Ltd, a Hong Kong films production company and distributor, released a 20th anniversary promotional clip yesterday highlighting all of the movies they released in the past two decades.

Media Asia Entertainment Group is the company that made Initial D Live Action movie back in 2005. The movie was directed by Andrew Lau (劉å‰å¼·) and starred many big stars such as Jay Chou, Edison Chen, Shawn Yue and Anthony Wong. There had always been rumors of a second Live Action movie in the making, but nothing solid ever came to light, until yesterday of course.

In this 4-minute promotional clip, Media Asia confirmed that Live Action movie 2 is currently in the making. Here is the tentative cast list:

Edison Chen (陳冠希) as Ryousuke / Keisuke Takahashi
Ekin Cheng (鄭伊å¥) as Wataru Akiyama
Wakana Matsumoto (æ¾æœ¬è‹¥èœ) as Natsuki Mogi
Anthony Wong (黃秋生) as Bunta Fujiwara
Daoming Chen (陳é“明) as Kozo Hoshino
Simon Yam (ä»»é”è¯) as Toshiya Joushima

Jay Chou's assistant has already confirmed that he will be both acting in and directing Initial D 2. As you can see from the cast list, the storyline will be most likely taking place in Initial D Fourth Stage where Project.D challenges the Purple Shadow. Besides the confirmation that the film is being in production, there is no other further information, but it's believed that the movie will be released in 2015, on the 20th year since the debut of the first Initial D manga volume.

Thats quite a few big names, Jay Chou, Ekin Cheng, Anthony Wong and Simon Yam. And I'm surprised Edison Chen is back.

Well it has been a long time and Edison is slowly getting more and more involved in hk again and had a cameo in a hk movie golden chickens earlier in the year, also, with this movie it relies on Jay and the 1st movie more than Edison so while they could recast him, its also not much of a risk to use him either. I think this would be a good chance to make a real comeback.

Yup, as a person who listens to Jay Chou's songs throughout my childhood, I certainly hopes his new Initial D OST will be like his old style.

yes finally. Looking forward to it. I never watched the 4th Stage of the anime.

 

Though kinda sad that we won't be seeing the race where their hand was tapped to the steering wheel. Forget which Stage of the anime that was.

I didn't think much about of this at first, but then I remembered that Edison starred in the prequel.

 

I was always hoping that he would make a comeback after his scandal.
