how much of a connection to korean culture do you have?

Absolutely nothing

There's no korean restaurants where I live

There's no korean people around me

I don't think I've ever spoken to a Korean irl unless I didn't know their ethnicity then lol

I would say a good 40 %, I do make korean dishes almost everyday, I prefer to watch Arirang instead of any other internationl media new, I understand korean behaviour, and i involuntary bow to people wich I hate, listen to their music, but I don't think they are the superior culture tbh, I take the good parts

i myself am not korean at all but have korean friends irl and know a fair amount of koreans from school etc. so i have a lot of secondhand exposure, but not firsthand. i think from an outsider's point of view i'm pretty well-informed but i really want to go so i can actually see it for myself, i'm thinking about doing wwoof over the summer or something.

as for the language, i started learning it idly a while ago and then gained a lot of interest and picked it up pretty fast. i'm still not great at speaking it but i understand it. another reason why i really want to go rlytearpls.png  i would get so much better at it

I'm not really sure I can put a number or anything on it. The neighborhood I live in is largely Korean and Jewish, so I get exposure to Korean food and stuff from that. A large number of the shops where in my neighborhood with have things written in both English and Hangul. But I don't go out of my way to shop at the Korean market or watch the Korean news channel or anything like that.
