don't answer if you are from the US

what country are you from and how are americans treated there?

for example, if you have an american exchange student in your classes how do other people treat them? do they ignore them like americans arent really interesting or do other students try to befriend them because theyre from america? do they think the american accent is cool or just boring?

It depends of the person

some treat americans like they're gods/godesses

some treat them like they are the most evil thing in the world

some treat them like a regular human being

In Brazil, the USA is seen by most of the people as the paradise while Brazil is the hell. But when a foreigner is ignorant about any thing related to Brazil, regardless of the person's real origins, they are going to be called "american" as an insult.

It depends, but it's a mix of curiosity, and friendemy feelings, argentinians don't forget the United States promoted dictatorship in here, but also popular culture closed a lil the gap; Argentina is a beautiful country but it's insecure, if anyone is reading this and plan to travel here pls check what ur country embassy advice regardless my country

as long as someone is white, they get treated well here

Filipinos are basically second class citizens in their own country

one time, after a Lady Gaga concert, the news teams were scouting for audience members to interview about the show and they kept saying "uy, yung foreigner, yung foreigner" (hey, get the foreigner) instead of the other thousands of fans who dressed up well and looked really good

for me though, if they're white, old/fat, and alone, I just assume they're sex tourists. there is an entire city/street here that is catered to expats looking for "exotic Filipino women".

Sex tourism is so disgusting I'm sorry to hear this. But it exists in so many places. I watched a vid of these girls doing kpop covers in a popular area of Ho Chi Minh City the other day and there were all these middle aged fat ugly white dudes walking around and I JUST KNEW exactly why their ass was there ew.

It depends of the region, really. Here where I live, we don't really care that much about argentinians or Argentina... In fact, Argentina is mostly seen as a place to spend the holidays because it's has pretty places, it's close to Brazil and we can enter there whenever we want (if we have an ID). There is also the soccer rivality and other minimal things but that's it.

I live in Australia. Americans get treated pretty well like the average Australian. There are a lot of Americans here.

But Australia does tend to make fun of the USA as a country, light hearted jabs

just wondering, can you tell if someone's Asian-American or Asian-Australian without them opening their mouths (since the difference in American vs Australian accents is a pretty dead giveaway)?  I'm Asian-American and American is often the last thing on people's mind when I travel abroad until I open my mouth and talk.

Nah, at least I can't.

There's a stereotype that Asian exchange students (from Asia) are easy to spot because they are dressed very stylishly and/or expensively but it's not always the case.

I'm Mexican and at this moment they aren't really liked lol

Even before the political differences a lot of Americans were viewed negatively, they either were the Spring Breakers or a bunch of kids that come to Mexico to get drunk because they can't do it at home or middle-aged americans that only cross for prostitutes and stuff like that, the only Americans that are seen well are those that come with their family on vacation or sport fans that come for boxing, football, etc.
