Nigerian Dance Teams compete to participate in 2017 KPop World Festival

The K-POP World Festival is an annual event organized by South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the support of numerous government agencies. After going through a few preliminary rounds, fans of K-pop are invited by the South Korean government to take part in the final round of the competition held every year in Changwon, South Korea. 

 

The K-Pop World Festival is broadcast by KBS and you can watch previous versions on the KBSWorld Channel.

 

There are two categories, Vocals and Dance. Both categories have a winner and then there is an overall grand prize.

 

I always enjoy watching the festival because it's great to see fans to get a chance to perform in a huge venue like actual idols. Also of course, I tend to root for my home countries, USA and Nigeria.

 

But I want to focus on Nigeria, who do a great job of representing African kpop fans.

 

Nigeria won the grand prize in 2015 with

 

 

Then last year, they won the top prize for the dancing category.

 

Immediately I was intrigued because these were some of the best kpop dance covers that I've seen and I went searching on youtube, and discovered how fierce the competition was to become the Nigerian representative for the KPOP World Festival. There are so many amazing groups that could easily win the finals, but only one group gets that chance, so I'd thought I spotlight some of the teams that competed here.

I'm having the same problem with the USA dance team who are really good this year. But I'm going to root for Nigeria because last year US won the grand prize (even though it was for singing). If either country wins though I'd be happy.

last year my country won a prize too and i was actually happy about it but this year i'm just NOPE about the hungarian team because i know them personally and i'm............ yikes...................

Yep. I really liked Monster, they were one of the runner ups of the competition.

Show how fierce the competition is cause imo the Monster group would have a good chance to do well at the actual competition.
