Within a few decades of his supposed lifetime, he is mentioned by Jewish and Roman historians, as well as by dozens of Christian writings. Compare that with, for example, King Arthur, who supposedly lived around AD500. The major historical source for events of that time does not even mention Arthur, and he is first referred to 300 or 400 years after he is supposed to have lived. I believe that there was a man, named Jesus, living in Israel. I believe that he might have been able to cure some ailments (maybe not to the extent seen in the bible, but to some point. There are people who can relieve and cure some forms of discomfort by touch, I have tried it myself). I believe that he was arrested and crucified. I am less inclined to believe that he was the son of God, that he could walk on water, and that he came back from the dead.
