Who is your bias? The Queen of Pop, Britney Spears' spiritual successor, vocalist, dancer, songwriter, model, MC, radio show presenter, TV show presenter and Korean legend, Japanese icon and philanthropist of our generation, Sooyoung.

 

Why and when did you start liking them? 2010. I was watching Lady Gaga's MusicStation performance on YouTube in late October. I, accidentally, clicked on a link taking me to the Genie performance on MusicStation, performed that day. Sooyoung just caught my eye despite her limited screen time and lines in the song.

 

Memorable instances where you've been proud of your bias? When she got that jaw shave in late December/January/February. Likewise, during the Letterman performance, she finally stepped up her game, proving that she wasn't a dead weight in the band in regards to performing, especially given her lack of lines, the fact the song was shit, the outfits were shit and that they were all out of their comfort zone.

 

Why do you like SHY? Hyoyeon and Yuri and my second and third favourite members in SNSD respectively. It is only natural that I enjoy seeing them perform together. Irrespective of personal preferences though, they are clearly suited towards the style of performance I enjoy (Taeyawn can keep her lethargic ballads and strained vocals). They ooze sex appeal, charisma and actually enjoy performing.

 

And what do you want from SHY, performance and achievement wise? I want them to be successful because they deserve it, not because I live for charts like a Katy Perry stan. However, there are certain milestones that I wish they could achieve. Sooyoung and Hyoyeon are constantly considered to be non-factors in SNSD, Yuri rarely is subjected to this. Because of this, I hope that they can succeed, independent of Yoona's face, Taeyeon's high notes just to prove to themselves that they aren't just tagging along for the ride but amazing performers and commercially successful artists in their own right.

 

As for these milestones, I would want them to be able to obtain a million selling single and at least 50k of visuals alongside endorsements as both a trio and as individuals, particularly Hyoyeon who rarely, if ever, receives these.

 

As for performances, I want them to do what is natural for them and refine and hone these skills. These three are the most proficient performers in SNSD but even they have a lot of work before they are masters of their craft.

I'm not sure I'm completely the SHY idea because I still think they need a vocal power house. I was think they should mix in some members from F(x) and SNSD.

 

Or they should bring Unique Unit back. I thought they were great and there was some potential there but oh well.

 

Was Britney a vocal power house? Madonna? Janet? Is it just some magical coincidence that the three largest females in pop music ever had the combined vocal capabilities of something that had died? No.

 

Vocals have not, do not and will not ever matter in pop music, particularly for females whether they are from the US, UK, Japan or Korea. What does matter, however, is spectacle, catchy hooks and to a lessor degree, stage presence. Furthermore, SHY are the only grouping with a clear concept that deviates from what the SNSD brand is known as. They are the only grouping that will have the chance of high quality output.

Incorrect. The question was if SHY was working with Cathy Dennis and Stuart Price for their debut.

More than likely they'll have a special stage at the Tokyo Dome Tour to test fan demand and support.

Seems as if SM and the ladies are really considering it.

 

If a good amount of ruckus is made about the stage, like there was for Sooyoung's 24 hours, we could very well see them debut.

Part 2. All of these are songs I like that don't all fit the same mould exactly but are the kind of thing I'd enjoy SHY performing. Lots of different vocal styles and abilities, different choreography and concepts. Variety, something SNSD need.
