i think it would be something like this
 
Hyoyeon- main dancer, main rapper, sub vocal
Yuri- visual, main dancer, lead vocal, rapper
Sooyoung- maknae(lol), main vocal, lead dancer, lead rapper

 

as for the leader, idk. it seems that SM always gives that title to the oldest member but we all know Sooyoung has the best leadership skills

I was thinking the same thing, Sooyoung is a potential main vocal for this unit. I don't think Hyoyeon would be a subvocal tho, it'd suck to still have 2 seconds of singing time when you're in a group with only two other people. With the right kind of song, Hyoyeon's vocals could be strong. Her vocals in Goodbye were    I think combining their vocals for a sexy song would work best with their voices. Also I don't think any of them would be rappers or rap. As for the leader, tbh I don't think SM would give anyone that position lol.

i wrote sub vocal for Hyo, because i can't imagine her being a lead vocal like Yuri

 

 

I don't agree with positions and labels for S.H.Y. It's one of the prominent causes of friction within fandom. 

In due time, certain expectations will be placed on given roles and when said expectations are not met, or met too much, irritation, anger and resentment will surface among fans.

 

There are no specific roles for the members of TTS. They are all simply vocalists, as SHY are simply dancers. I've only seen fans complain about crazy Locksmiths sidelining Seohyun, never about her misuse, with concern to the groups music.

We will need all our energy to fend off naysayers, not our ilk.

we all know who would get the most lines, though. true, TTS were all singers but Taeyeon obviously sang the most.

in SHY, i think Sooyoung would sing the most, since she's the best singer of the dance line

 

I don't think they would give them specific positions either, it's not necessary. There are three members, so even as a dance unit, they would all dance and they would all sing. Look at Orange Caramel, afaik they don't have specific positions but they all carry their own weight and everything is divided pretty equally. I don't see a reason why SHY wouldn't be like that.

 

I see their concepts being more R&B/hip-hop concepts anyway. Look at all the dance stages they did back in the day, Rhythm Nation, the T.O.P performance (not the Japanese T.O.P lol), even Hyo and Yuri's stage with Henry. The songs don't need to be that vocally challenging so really who sings what wouldn't make much of a difference except for the way their voices sound to the producers.

 

Most of that main vocal/lead vocal is made up stuff anyway. Onion even said on his blog recently that there's no difference between main and lead singers/dancers, companies just do that stuff to give all of the members something to make them seem special. There might be one main singer and one main dancer (like Taeyeon and Hyoyeon in ITNW) but that's about it, the rest are just dance line/vocal line members. Honestly, trying to divide it up seems kind of petty. There are only three members so in the event that they actually did get a unit, there's no reason everything shouldn't be divided pretty fairly. Look at TTS.

Why would they want YoonYulSic when Yuri wants a subunit with Hyo!

because the royal family is a really popular trio and the Sica, Yoon and Yul stans always talk about YoonYuSic as the next subunit. well personally i think it would be such a selfish idea, considering that Hyo, Sun and Soo are the least popular members in SK.

and tbh, YoonYulSic wouldn't work as a subunit.

besides Sica's vocals, she can't dance for shit and she wouldn't be able to  keep up with YoonYul's dancing.

as for YoonYul, well, they're only good at dancing. but Yuri can be a decent singer when she wants. the problem is that she's getting worse when it comes to vocals and she does't really try anymore

Short version: Yoona and Yuri can dance but not sing well. Sica can sing but can't dance.

well, SHY can all dance but let's be honest, they're not amazing singers either xD

that's the thing. They have something in common. Dance and look awesome when doing it. who would've thought HyoYul could just rap and look awesome with no dance? Give them a good song and an awesome choreo and SHY is good to go

I was just watching this on another thread thinking they'll do fine with the vocals, as long as the songs are not too high or difficult, they can handle it.

Sooyoung's falsetto and headvoice is decent. Yuri can do it too. as for Hyoyeon idk. never saw her doing falsetto

SM always plays safe. Instead of taking risks and promoting least popular members in a subunit to potencially attract new fans they just debut a subunit with the members overly promoted on a concept that has been done for ages. The reason I think SHY won't happen isn't because the lack of vocals is because SM would rather play safe and promote members they know will bring money. There's more possibility of a Yoona solo album than SHY tbh
