Amberrune 188
If it is your senior year of high school don't take AP lol
Candykiss 2,124
Yess I'm taking AP Lit and took AP Lang even tho English isn't my first language It can be a challenge sometimes but I definitely recommend it! It's better to learn in a challenging class than to cruise by in a boring easy class

Seultoria 211
You learn more by challenging yourself.
Wata 453
It's probably better if you take a class that's more comfortable for you. imo, it's better to have an A in a regular class than a C in an AP class because sometimes colleges look at the grade first before looking at the actual weighted classes. Not saying that you shouldn't push yourself to see your limits, but if pushed too much you can fall.
evil4life 3,270
if you take that class it will look good in college on the other if you take it and flop with anything below a B regardless of how impressive the class is your GPA just took a hit which definitely doesn't look good for college
Slowpoke X 1,319
grades are more important than knowledge, so take the easier subject 90 percent of high school knowledge is useless anyway, you are better off wasting time on smth else
Reliable-k 89
Just take honors if you can't make your mind. You get the +5 points & a heavier weighted GPA than a regular English class.. It won't hurt to take AP, because you can pass the class & fail the AP test. The only downside to AP is some colleges don't take the credit you got in high school. Check w/ you counselor to see if you can change out if you don't like it first. ** Schools & Counties differ
tokyodrift 68
I did senior year. I took Spanish 3 Honors and NEVER again. Thank god the teacher was cool and I knew her since Freshman year. If it was any other teacher I most certainly would have failed. Ended the year with a high C.
Knee 2,642
I'm taking AP Lang atm. It's not too bad but that might just be because my teacher is super easy. Still, if it's just difficulty that's the issue then I'd say take it. Challenge is good and realistically, there will be plenty of more hard classes later, especially in college. mika613 843
It would be good practice for college that's what I ended up doing too.
✽aya 998
take it. It's worth it, and colleges like to see you challenging yourself. plus, what if you end up doing really well in the class?

2501 75
It depends on how that subject would affect me. Of course, the schooling system in the country I live in differs, but how I would decide is whether that subject is necessary to my university degree choices. I'd then consider whether I'd have the actual capability to get an A. Sure, there's the whole "if you study hard enough, you will get an A", but effort, tolerance of pressure and stress are something to consider. If I were to decide between English Extension (probably the AP version of yours, but run concurrently as regular English) and mainstream English, I'd probably decide no for these reasons: - I'm not that great at analysing and reviewing literature - I'm horrible at formulating an "opinion" or "argument" based on literature - I don't need English Extension at all for my subjects - The effort I need to put in to pass compared to the rest of my subjects is way disproportionate. - Although English Extension scales really highly for my exit rank, I'd probably die trying to get an A on it tl;dr - Do you need AP English? Are you good at English? Will you regret AP English?
