I transferred to a college about 3 hrs away a few weeks ago and like yeah i met a lot of cool friends and have had lots of fun recently

but i am also super broke now despite working so fcking much the past few years to save up college money

also the website my school uses for homework is confusing af and im already late on a few major assignments. a C- and below is a failing grade in the school so i dont even know if im going to pass one of these classes since im so late on some assignments (it doesnt tell you when some assignments are due and i have to manually check it and its super hard to find and it sucks)

like what is the point? i have until sept 6 to decide if i want to drop out.

im home for the weekend and i really dont want to go back tbh. the only cool thing was getting to party/meet new people but the school part sucks and i dont care for my roomates at all.

my teachers are kind but they dont know how the fuck to run an online/in person hybrid class.

i tried scheduling a counselor appointment but my appointment is set after sept 6 so i would get W's if i dropped out  and might not get a refund since im paying OUT OF POCKET and i have a small loan

I know in today's society everyone is encouraged (coerced sometimes) into going for higher education. While it's great, the way the system is unfortunately leaves people with crippling debt or even worse - a piece of paper but no job.

You might be better off taking a gap year for now. Find a job even if its just retail or something and keep working that. Get some experience and then try again for uni later. You can either use the money you saved or maybe you might decide to not return at all. There is no one right way to be "successful".

You've worked so hard to be where you're. These complications/hardships are bad for now but you should not abandon. Being late with some assignments is hard but nothing much, you can catch up. Besides since, it's all new for you, you're probably not that well organized/efficient, it will improve with time.

You would regret it later if you do not try everything to succeed particularly if the issues are only management related smile.png

I would try talking to your professors individually face to face. I had a semester where I was having a really hard time personally and it was affecting my grades hardcore. I really didn't think any of my professors would be lenient about the situation (because I was at an actual university), but for the most part they were.

I would take the time to reexamine how being at school is helping you achieve your long term goals. Is this the school you need to be at in order to make those goals happen? Do you even know what you want to major in or what you want to do after you finish your undergrad?

If you can endure do it, I won't lie to you, that would be benefitial to your future, but if you'r in the limit of a collapse drop it, either way what matters is the quality of the life you want not only economicly, but in terms of satisfaction and happyness

honestly, i'm at a college two hours away from my home and it was just as hard at first. i'm constantly broke and the classes were hard, i was paying out of pocket and building up mountains of debt, the only difference is that i had no friends so i basically just was alone whenever i wasn't in my classes. my point is, college is hard. college isn't for everyone either. you might not be suited to it.

it's a hard decision, but personally i would try to stick out the semester. it does get easier once you can figure out a system for yourself. and it takes a bit longer than a couple of weeks to figure out how best to make college work for you. but that's my personal opinion. i have always really valued my education. but if you don't see college ever working out for you and you think the best decision is to drop, then you should drop.

no matter what other people tell you, whatever you feel you need to do is what matters the most.

i guess i should atleast try this semester. i mean if i fail or feel different ill just drop out and it will be about 5k gone but atleast i can make up for that in a few months of work.
