Have you ever lived alone?

I've always lived with my family or roommates/housemates, but I really want my own apartment. My mom doesn't want me live by myself, but as I'm a grown ass woman I want to give it a go!

For all of you who have lived by yourself is it worth the extra money or should I just continue to live with others?

i live alone, but i would stick it out for as long as possible financially

it depends on your situation though

edit: wait, let me type a bit more detail.. living alone is nice, if you can handle being alone a lot. especially coming from a bigger family i reckon it would be a bit of adjusting. but living alone is also romanticised too much imo, because with it come more cons than pro's really. the hardest for me was adjusting to having to discipline myself into doing chores properly as i would've done living with my mum. i'm a student and it was harder than i thought to keep up with homework, projects as well as housekeeping. and financially, it might've been better to just move along with my mum, because it really is expensive and i notice i'm very stingy in every way even when i do have money lmaooo

so i'd say it really depends on your situation, how your relationship & situation at home is, your occupations, financial status etc.

sort of, in my 2nd year of university. My flatmates were hardly ever home at all so I had the apartment to myself most of the time. But I've never actually lived alone.

and if you live in America, unless you can afford an apartment by yourself (the standard rule to make 3x the amount of rent, according to many articles I've read about how much money you should have in income before renting), it's better to have roommates/flatmates to split the cost. Apartments are expensive these days, especially if you live in metropolitan areas.

Yep. I've been living alone for over a year now. I would say go for it! I like the fact that my place is entirely mine and I can do whatever I want with it and I don't to clean up after other people. Granted I've always really valued my privacy and independence so as soon as I was in a position to move out on my own financially, I did it. Plus if you decide that you don't like it most leases last a year so you can move out and find some roommates or something afterwards.
