Simon Cowell's new boyband gives me the Kpop vibes

Not necessarily Kpop. This is more of a throwback to American 90's hip hop swing scene. The sound and dancing is pretty spot on. Even their styling...

Edit: the last memorable Kpop song I can recall that's spot on to this happened years ago with BTOB's Wow! It's a catchy sub-genre, but kpop has moved on to tropic-house, hip hop and EDM.

But I meant they're seeing the US still digs this sort of thing (with a lot of kids getting into K-Pop) so it's back

But lbh, US boybands in the 90s had a lot of filler members. This group is like...no filler. Also the emphasis in dancing members is back when it's been gone for a good while. Nearly all Prettymuch guys were part of a crew or smth.

It's as if US is beginning to pick up on the trends.

????

Trends that the youth dig groups with an emphasis in dancing.

Isn't it said that kpop is a copy of western trends.....hmm.....and what is up with their names???

Real names or stage name?

They came up with it because Brandon with the glasses said they always say "Pretty Much" to things like if someone said "Did you have a good day" they'd always said Pretty Much... so that's how the name became a thing if that makes sense

Ah dancing! It's good to see kids reacting to it positively.

(Augh! No! Mustn't be trigg--)...But I wouldn't chalk that up to kpop influences.

I'm trying to think of which groups had filler members. I mean, yeah, some groups had members who were more popular than their teammates but that didn't make the others fillers. They all sang, danced and even had creative input.

Backstreet Boys

Nsync

98 Degrees

Boys II Men

B2K

New Kids on the Block

Heck, even O-Town

and if you wanna go even beyond the 90s, there was New Edition

I'm dense so I don't see how PrettyMuch is somehow beyond these groups and have cross genres to kpop performance standards. If anything kpop groups (ggs and bgs) are more riddled with filler members than any of the aforementioned Western groups. No hate or anything, I'm not trying to put anyone on the defensive here. I just need specifics. To my four-eyes, they look exactly like their American boy group progenitors.

(Kind of a side-tangent)

Even if Simon was inspired to create a dancing boy group because he saw a clip of some kpop boygroup dancing...he's not taken any risks at all with his boys. Like...zero risks or even a bit of a spin/twist. There are no shoutouts to the intricate kpop formations, the extravagant concepts and styling, etc. No offense to these boys, the song is catchy. But they literally could have time traveled from 1994 to the present, that's how exact they are. They look like a group of high schoolers from Saved by the Bell, meeting up after school to perform for the girls in their class before heading over to the arcade. I need to hear and see more from them to notice any correlation between them and kpop performance level influence.

Sorry OP, I wasn't discrediting your post or trying start a fight, I just couldn't help myself! chuplz.png

I can't at y'all coming for their visuals when Zion and Brandon are in the group smh. I think they look visually nice together but I can see why people think Austin looks out of place tho.

Their song issa bop but their live vocals are kinda off.
