Article: 'Definitely global idols!'... Boys Republic captivate international fans with 'Jeju Airport Brand Song'

Source: Asia Econ via Naver

1. [+345, -3] Group names these days are so embarrassing... Boys Republic, Bangtan Boys, Crayon Pop... seriously ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

2. [+288, -3] Idols aren't retiring and yet we're still getting dozens of new idols each year... I have no idea who anyone is anymore.

3. [+241, -2] I used to think names like Super Junior, Girls' Generation, Wonder Girls, etc were so embarrassing... but seeing the newer names now, I think the older ones have pretty decent names now..

4. [+185, -1] They barely have 20 comments in Korea, I highly doubt they're popular at all internationally

5. [+176, -0] Nobodies ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ Boys Republic and Bangtan Boys ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

6. [+174, -2] They're getting mad hated on in here and not one fan coming out to defend them ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

7. [+151, -2] Really? They're named Boys Republic?

8. [+126, -1] We will soon get groups named Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts

9. [+125, -2] Boys Republic... Bangtan Boys... What is wrong with our country these days.

10. [+114, -0] I looked them up and they only have two songs in their one album... what is so global about this group? They don't even have anything to media play off of ã…‹

11. [+82, -0] I bet only international fans care about them... because I don't think anyone in Korea cares. They're not global idols, they're just international idols.. Not Korean idols at all ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

12. [+70, -0] I watch TV quite often and have never heard of them... and yet they call themselves global idols? Koreans don't even know who they are... ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

I mean, hindsight is 20/20...if BTS had flopped in the end, 90% sure everyone would blame their group name. Even now, people still laugh at it. But because they're successful, we tend to just let the name time go. But really, what kind of media play was going on here for Boys' Republic...
