Regarding this morning's statements by the President of the United States of America regarding various issues of the bilateral relationship, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico states the following:

1. As the Mexican government has always stated, our country will not pay, under any circumstances, for a wall or physical barrier built on US territory along the Mexican border. This statement is not part of a Mexican negotiating strategy, but rather a principle of national sovereignty and dignity.

2. With regard to the violence generated in Mexico by the illicit drugs, arms and money trafficking between our countries, the Mexican Government reiterates that it is a shared problem that will only end if its root causes are addressed: high demand for drugs in the United States and supply from Mexico (and other countries). Transnational criminal organizations have killed thousands of Mexicans, including members of the Armed Forces and police officers, and thousands of Americans. Only on the basis of the principles of shared responsibility, teamwork and mutual trust will we be able to overcome this challenge.

3. Mexico's position at the renegotiation table of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) will continue to be serious and constructive, always putting our national interests first, and seeking a beneficial result whereby the three North American countries win.

4. Mexico will not negotiate NAFTA, nor any other aspect of the bilateral relationship, through social media or any other news platform.

The Mexican government takes this opportunity to express its full solidarity with the people and government of the United States as a result of the damages caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, and expresses that it has offered to provide help and cooperation to the US government in order to deal with the impact of this natural disaster —as good neighbors should always do in trying times.

Everyone in Texas be safe and be careful of debris especially if you're outside in the flood. I saw pic of a legit crocodile washed up by the water wtf.....

Its so sad we've come to a point in time where we praise a country for not being shitty, and doing what it ought to do to save lives. Its even worse to imagine the tables turned, and trying to envisage Trump doing just as much for the Mexicans in a similar horrific situation. He's a total disappointment really.

Stay safe if youre in Houston, Texas rn! I saw a gif of an underground subway of some sort being completed flooded by a crack in a wall. It was horrifying, and extremely scary.

Yeah....Im in Houston. Depends on the area. Most people will be safe if they just stay inside. But near downtown, Its pretty much a lake. Theyre rescuing people in their houses by boats and stuff. A lot of cars got flooded. Last night, someone drowned in their car since the waters go up and down really fast, so you cant really tell if its safe to go. Thats the only death I've heard of so far. But the houses arent like filled over your head. Most roads are blocked. If i step outside, itll be to my calves. any hole or valley thing (forgot what theyre called >.> drain?) is pretty much a river now. Some roads collapsed completely. The stores were packed before the hurricane. I heard the main storm is on wednesday though? Im gonna go to the store rn and ill tell you when i get back...  I wrote too much >.>

And we shouldn't pay because we don't want that wall. Some schools in my city started does free clothing day with the condition of giving something when things like that happens or to help people in orphanages, asiles, etc but I really hope the orange supporters don't take this as something bad.

I hope everyone got evacuated or take precautions in time before the main storm. There were people got found by rescue teams bc they posted on SNS, like the nursing home ladies, that makes you appreciate how widespread SNS is at this time and effort of rescue team

Yeah, this picture blew up online. And if you go on the radio, theyre talking about donations, where to get help, and everyone was so sweet >.>.  The stores were mostly closed except for a mcdonalds and a nail salon near me though i live near a lot of stores. The power went out and it was possible the most boring 6 hours  of my life. Its back now of course but still ^^. You dont know the value of electricity until you lose it

Mexico :(((

Thanks a lot. Everything is a mess here. It's been raining non stop. Downtown Houston is a FRIKIN ocean with all the water. All stores, colleges, basically everything is closed.

Fortunately, I live in an area that doesn't get flooded too bad. But our street did get a lot of water 2 days ago.

But yeah, it's so depressing reading the news and stuff.
