If it's your first year, they probably jus tmiss you and are worried about you.

At the end of your next call, try scheduling it on your terms like. "Hey, I'll be busy tomorrow because of studying, can we talk at (whatever time is convenient for you) instead?"

Tell them honestly you are tired at night and to call them at the morning instead? Or at lunch?

You can suggest to text them so it wouldn't be inconvenient

You could point out that there is no need to be hostile or mad, since you didn't ignore their calls deliberately. You were tired or busy and they should understand that. If you missed a phone a call again, ask them politely if both of you could have a calm conversation. Then, explain your side--politely and calmly.

After that's sorted out, give them assurance that you're fine all by yourself, and that they don't need to call you everyday.

Give them "receipts" so they don't have to ask more annoying questions. Wish you luck.

You should establish boundaries, but understand that they are your parents. If this is your first time living away from home, it is understandable that they would want updates. Texting them updates throughout the day should suffice.
