Chinese Drama Recommendations PLZ!!

Night Rain

Recommended Posts

So I discovered the wonderful world of Chinese dramas through Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms and now I can't get enough. I really need some recommendations!

Requirements

- Historical setting (Or a fantasy + historical setting like Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms and Lost Love in Times)

- Focuses on romance

- Chinese drama

- If you can please avoid tragic endings but if it's really good I'll still watch

- I hate ditsy female characters or ones that over exaggerate their actions. Please avoid dramas with female leads that will give me 2nd hand embarrassment.

Here are some chinese dramas I'm in love with

- Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms:  freaking obsessed and in love. Best romance drama I've ever watched

- The King's Woman: SOOO IN LOVE WITH THIS DRAMA! Contender to beat Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms but it hasn't finished airing (And I also think it has a tragic ending)

- Lost Love in Times: Like it so far

- General and I: I really liked the novel so I watched the drama. Of course the plot and characters were good but I didn't feel any chemistry between the actors. They didn't fit the role in my opinion. Still overall good drama.

I heard Nirvana in Fire was good but it doesn't seem to really focus on romance so I kind of ditched it in the first Ep. Should I continue?

Continue Nirvana in Fire, probably the best drama ever made, its epic even without romance

I concur...it's a masterpiece, even with almost no romance. A little confusing in the beginning, but a few episodes in and the story unfolds like layers of an onion so brilliantly.

The no tragic ending part is a little difficult, Chinese historical drama and happy ending is almost an oxymoron. Strong non-ditzy female characters though are plentiful. I would go into the Chinese section of drama sites and check out ones with good ratings.

Nirvana and Scarlet Heart are the best cdramas imo but they dont fit some of your requirements. I wont spoil which one, but they are a must watch imo. Out of the other historical dramas that I enjoyed, I think only Cuo Dian Yuan Yang comes close to some of your reqs.

Like someone said the non-tragic ending will be hard in a historical setting.
