[Blog] Addressing the disgustingly aggressive and disturbing Taylor Swift hate!

Ever since news broke that Taylor Swift will be making her long-awaited and highly-anticipated comeback after 2 years of releasing her records-breaking Album of the Year, musical phenomenon; 1989. All I can think of is, “Oh no! Here it comes…the onslaught of critiques and criticisms about every aspect of Taylor’s life.â€

It’s not like we haven’t seen this under-the-microscope trend before when it comes to Taylor’s world. Her every move has been picked apart and analyzed, from the topics of her songs to that â€œFamous†phone call.

Needless to say, everyone has an opinion, but when is enough, well, enough? Whether you love her or loathe her, there’s no denying that T-Swift has had her fair share of (band-wagon jealous idiot) haters.

The double standard is ridiculous

I’d defy you to find a male celebrity who is chastised as much as Taylor is. For the exact same behavior. We’re so quick to praise a man who talks about his feelings, throwing around words like ‘brave’ and ‘inspiring,’ yet the second Taylor — or, really, women in general — does it? Uh-oh, she’d better be quiet or she’ll be perceived as ‘overly emotional’ and ‘needy’ and ‘desperate.’

She’s brutally honest in her music

I’ve never understood how this could ever be anything other than beautiful. Your life and the things that happen to you are your story and you have a right to tell them. Who are we to say that Taylor should hide such an important part of herself? In a world of far too many fake celebrities, her candor and honesty is downright refreshing!

She’s young, jesus fucking christ, people

Remember, she’s not even 30 yet. Life happens. People make mistakes. No one’s perfect, and if we all had our foibles and flaws broadcast to the world, I doubt we’d like what we see.

She’s a fierce business woman

Let’s face it: Taylor is #boss when it comes to her career. She knows what she’s doing and isn’t going to let anyone stop her – especially a few sad haters who are probably sitting alone in their mother’s basement and puffing their chest out as they type their drivel anonymously on the Internet. Sadly, Taylor’s business savvy is something a lot of people overlook, but she knows what she wants and makes no apologies for it. That’s the true definition of #boss, if you ask me!

She does good work

Charitable Taylor’s not just a flash-in-the-pan celebrity who is only concerned with being photographed on the red carpet; she’s also been known to give back in a big way. She makes a point to connect with fans and is responsible for the creation of the Taylor Swift Education Center, which promotes arts education in her hometown of Nashville.

Life is short, people. Do something productive with your lives instead of hating and desperate seeking of pixel likes on the Internet.

“I want to say to all the young women out there: There are going to be people along the way who are going to try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame… You’ll look around and you’ll know it was you and the people who love you who put you there and that will be the greatest feeling in the world.â€

wow. thank you. what a really nasty person :omg:

what really turned my head was this:

No matter how hard she tries to portray herself as down-to-earth, Swift is a billionaire pop star.

wth?!?!? i thought she's a millionaire :wth: :wth: :wth:

Honestly as a matter of fact she's really smart at marketing herself and strengthening her brand power

Other pop stars barely came close to her except probably Beyonce

She's been touring across the world since 2008 i would actually be surprised if she's only a millionaire her singles and albums are selling very well too

her management sued, not Taylor herself, Taylor supposedly had no idea of what was going on

Taylor 100% supports fan projects

oh really she clarified it? that sounds kinda hinky, i mean how would she have not at least had a little bit of knowledge. but if she says so...

her management has always been shady, I hate them! and then the media makes it seem like Taylor is suing everybody by herself

btw her net worth in 2017 alone is like +200m

When you're as famous as Taylor Swift, aggressive and disturbing hatred should be expected. Don't forget that she is herself an institution that is managed by her team.

The reason why she cops it a lot more than anyone else is because she is a successful woman who writes musically catchy, but lyrically superficial music. Swift's entire discography has more layers, but her brand as of recent has been built around a victim complex and a lack of ownership. People have become so critical of her because she is no longer America's humble, young sweetheart that was brushed to become a positive role model for young girls. The most vocal of her critics are her target audience, many of whom are sociopolitically conscious and have looked to influential figures like Swift to support the movements that attempt to repair a divided America.

Her 1989 promotion cycle might be the most successful in her career but certainly the most damaging with evidence and/or accusations of faux feminism, using relationships for profit, glorifying colonial fantasies, lawsuits towards her fans, removing her music from Spotify, manipulative behaviour and the general pageantry of her fame. How she handles the repercussions with Reputation will be a testament to whether she will retain the respect of the fans who have either left or felt ambivalent about her over the past few years. She needs to take control of her career because even if her music sounds amazing, many listeners are growing past this facade.

In general i don't disagree. I think the occasionally vitriolic brand of hate she gets is gross... but ...

wow... i have so many opinions right now....

i just don't want to start something or turn this into something... i'm too tired y'all

i'll just say ... white feminism is... always enlightening.
