Wanna One suffers from a divided fandom

Article: "The competition for center" Wanna One, not 1 fandom but 11 different fandoms

Source: OSEN via Naver

1. [+1,019, -65] Even if Wanna One is one, Wannables seem to be a fandom that would rather die than act as one

2. [+668, -58] Fans are always the problem

3. [+686, -67] Aside from all the issues with the center position, it's fact that the fandom is having a hard time coming together. I was surprised when fans started directing their frustrations not at the agency but against the other members.

4. [+424, -37] The saying that female idol groups are grown by the public while male idol groups are grown by the fandoms are true. IOI's fandom issues were never this bad.

5. [+205, -9] Well Wanna One's fandom is a combination of individual fandoms. It doesn't make sense to demand that all those fandoms have to like the same thing. I think we should be grateful if we just acknowledge the differences and we all just play nice until the group disbands ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

6. [+163, -12] I'm really sick of fandoms ranking the members whenever an issue arises, drives me nuts

7. [+167, -15] How could you not expect this when the entire group is made up of members voted by individual fandoms of their own? ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

8. [+135, -6] Way too many akgaes in the fandom. I wish everyone would just support all the members, or at least not put down the others if you can't do that.

9. [+134, -11] Nope, this fandom's going to go down fighting until the last day

10. [+212, -43] It seems like a hobby for this fandom to put each other down and fight till blood is drawn ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

11. [+134, -17] Can't be helped when the members were voted in by separate fandoms in the first place

12. [+83, -8] It was pretty bad with IOI at first too but Wanna One's just on a larger scale so it's more visible to the eye

13. [+120, -21] Remember how bad it was with IOI when Kim Sejung was set to debut with Gugudan and all the other fandoms dragged her down for impacting IOI's promos?

14. [+117, -23] The fandom doesn't seem to realize that not getting along is putting them on a one way path to failure

15. [+72, -14] You can even see them fighting in this article ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

16. [+46, -7] Wannables, please wake up. We need to move on from the 'Produce 101' days and stop fighting and wasting time over who gets more screentime. Let's just love the group for who they are.

17. [+40, -5] You can't expect Wanna One's fandom to be like other fandoms when they started off as individual members to begin with

18. [+27, -1] The next season can fix this by getting rid of the ranking system for individual members and just having fans vote for entire groups

Yet I feel so attached to my fellow Wannablesohbi.png

Supporting post IOI groups or just IOI members (hi DIA and Gugudan)

Neither.

I meant when IOI was formed.

I don't know much about what happened in 2015 as I took a kpop hiatus late 2014- August of last year.

So I want to know if IOI had worse akgaes then Wanna One.

(K-)Wannables are pretty much 90% akgaes, many of them drag a bunch of the members down to get their bias higher, they had big fights all the time, this was totally expected

I hope they change tho, not only their big hate for each other but also the way they behave in general, WannaOne looks so fucking done with them in almost all fansite pics of them trying to move around

Somi stans were the worst but they don't compare to Wanna One stans at all. The whole center thing in the debut MV and the fact that Somi was not the focus if very similar to Daniel and Energetic but I think after that they calmed down a lot.

Genuine question, were IOI fans at debut like this?

IOI fan here.

It wasn't as crazy as Wanna One. But it was still very much crazy.

Yeongjung was really bashed in the Crush Video. My bias is Somi, but many Somi fans got really mad when Somi wasn't center for dream girls, but not at the point where they were going to sue.

Later on when Crush came out, it was better as one.

they were but it wasn't as bad as this. Sohye and Yeonjung were probably targeted the most when the group was first formed because a lot of fans of other girls didn't think they deserved a spot in the group. Somi fans were really annoying whining about her "center spot" being shared with Chaeyeon & Doyeon in the Dreamgirls MV. Chaeyeon, Sejung and Mina got a lot of shit for promoting with their other groups.

It's going to be a rough year and a half for these boys. Passionate fans + akage fans is never a good mix. I still can't quite wrap my head around bashing other people in your favs group, especially when you know your fav enjoys being around these people. Like, Wanna One all have good chemistry with each other and you can clearly see some strong friendships forming. I don't see how people can call themselves a fan of someone when they spend their time tearing down those around their fav. It's just so blind.

It's so weird seeing people acting like IOI had no akgae problems when I distinctly remember seeing people complain about Somi's akgaes (both Korean and International).

I hope the akgae problem and the division within the fandom dies down soon. Korean fans have the akgae problem and from International fans, I feel like there's still a distinct line drawn between the hyung-line fandoms and the maknae-line fandoms, but I do see a lot of people who support OT11, which is nice. The fandom was so bad during Produce 101 that it's going to take some time for them to really come together as one.

is kinda normal considering how W1 was formed and I don't see an issue. They never voted for this group, they voted one member. I don't think it matters if fans support a group directly or support the group indirectly through a member, what matters is the support.

Honestly, no. It wasn't as bad as this. Of course there were occasionally akgaes but the fandom wasn't divided. We only had a year . . . . And I guess their fanbase just reacts differently.

I was going to be a wannable, proceeding my IOI feels. But the fans... are a bit-

But I do follow their activities once in a while.

I think it's was because Somi was the only one with a number of Akgaes. I don't see much of the fandom wanting anyone else be the center... nor do they rank the members. I can only remember some fans getting angry at Yeunjung for hogging the spotlight in CRUSH. But after that issue, I don't recall serious problems about individual fandom. Or I might just be in the mature side of the fandom.
