taeyeon's jawline

LOL nice title !! but SM still has EXO & Red Velvet to back them up even if they lose SNSD so I don't even think they will care about looking bad :/ unless EXO-Ls (the biggest SM fandom & also one of the top 3 overall largest Kpop fandoms) & Reveluvs unite with Sones and all the fans of their other neglected artists... and demand that they treat all their artists with more respect... they've already been able to get away with it in the past (f(x) & Suju)... so if SM artists' fans don't unite, I don't think SM will do anything about it like they had with f(x) & Suju :'(, SM is that ignorant.

[what's with all these people downvoting me, are you really gonna support SM even after all this bullshit? even now with Taeyeon's crappy security at the Jakarta airport?? unbelievable. shame on you.]

Shinee has been managed quite well over the years, no?? (except recently with Onew's scandal)... i'm not sure since i'm not a SM stan, I only follow SNSD

ok, maybe i misunderstood

"SM still has EXO & Red Velvet to back them up even if they lose SNSD"

that sounds like SHINee doesn't matter, but they are still in Top3 of earners in SM and number 1 for SM in Japan in the last two years

in the beginning of 2016 they were even on spot 1 overall: http://kpopkfans.blogspot.com/2016/04/shinee-earns-most-in-sm-in-first-half.html

oh no.. I meant it as: EXO & Red Velvet are the most popular artists under SM (-> among today's top 3 trendiest idol groups in their respective BG & GG categories) so even if SM loses SNSD, they will still have these 2 to "back them up" so SM "might" not care so much about losing SNSD (as you can see with them cutting their comeback possibly because of the low turnout) & try to make better offers to keep the members that make the most money for them like Taeyeon & Yoona :/

[[[this is unacceptable from SM... I don't even know what they're trying to do now... SNSD is precious. They should be protected and not disrespected like this, they made so much money for SM and are also 10th yr idols, you can't push them around like this]]]

yes, you're right: exo and Red Velvet are more popular (in Korea!), but SHINee still earns more money overall (because Japan) and i assume SM cares more about the money, so ... *shrugs*

overall i agree with you, SM will be not over without SNSD

SM is gonna be around for a long time because they know delulu fans would rather think of idols as canvases to project a fantasy on to.

People will hem & haw now but it will be forgotten soon enough when the new comebacks are announced.

SM knows SNSD and other groups are not loved as actual people by their fans.

Nah. Everyone said this back in the TVXQ scandal days and nothing changed

true... if the alarming details of their slave contracts that came out during TVXQ's court case, rumours of managers being abusive etc don't put people off, then nothing will.

iawt, it's emblematic of kpop fan culture at large, but with SM it's particularly pronounced due to how they market their acts as super accessible with constant fanmeets and a palatable, approachable boyfriend/girlfriend fantasy image combined with a lack of adequate security measures (this has always been a problem with SM, not just recently) - ultimately a certain section of people feel like they own these idols as playthings rather than seeing them as human beings, that's not gonna change anytime soon.
