Are there any well run companies when it comes to girl group management?

YG keeps their artists locked in the dungeon with no music, no performances and no varieties.

JYP can only properly promote one act at once.

SM is a clingy, intimidating monster that rushes poorly planned promotions one after the other.

I understand that it's a business blah blah, but none of these strategies are even the best way to make money?

If YG promoted their artists more they would obviously have more fans and make more money. The lull between their debut and PWF and again with AITYL was huge and a a waste of time for everyone. As far as I know they only did V lives during that time which helps to strengthen the existing fanbase but doesn't bring new fans. YG is also extremely sexist and makes no effort to hide it. He has supported Big Bang through any and every scandal they've had, including GD's drug scandal, but the minute it happens to a female artist from one of their best selling groups she's thrown under the bus and the whole group is disbanded. And despite CL's stage presence and apparent desire to release music she's been working on for what seems like forever, she has the career of a low ranking PD101 girl.

JYP acts like they're a company with 3 staff and a fax machine. Twice are putting out record after record and making money so Suzy had awful solo promotions. She's a huge star but all she was given a V live and a web show. Miss A had a hit song and instead of improving the girls contracts and cashing in on their resurgence of popularity they let Min and Jia go and let Fei release that song and left her in China. WG had a hit song, a unique concept and a seemingly bright future, with one of the members having released hit solos and just let them go.

SM are just an absolute mess. If they had any sense they'd space out and PROPERLY PROMOTE their airtist comebacks in order to maximise chart position, music show wins and sales but no. They release about 3 teasers 5 minutes before the music video drops (with spelling mistakes either in it, or the title, or the description), promote for two weeks, releasing an MV for another group in the second week of the first groups promotions. Instead of putting effort into giving all members some sort of promotion give one member 4 comebacks in a year, in which the solo music far exceeds the group music. All of TTS' solo albums have been great and performed well but only one of them gets multiple solos. According to SM this is a good way to increase popularity and the group fanbase. Except it's not. SM sees that the public takes well to mature music from SNSD members but continues giving them cutesy comebacks. They saw the resurgence WG had with a fresh, mature concept and just ignored it. Also Fx is dead.

All of the Big 3 suck so...any suggestions?

That's the end of my rant.

I like how JYP did Twice , every member is popular which is a miracle and I LOVE that

I feel like Momo and Jihyo/Chaeyoung/Jeongyeon are less popular though. Momo gives me a Hyoyeon vibe (good dancer but one of the least popular) whilst JJC are kind of like Tiffany level (popular but could have been more so)? There is still huge disparity but that's not even relevant rn. But as soon as JYPNGG with Somi comes out they'll be gone even though they have money making potential, just like Miss A and WG were dumped. Why can't they keep two groups going at once?

Momo is one of the more popular members tho

She's at least more popular than Mina and possibly Dahyun

there's no perfect company, but i'll say source music

Is that Gfriends company?

RBW

I agree with all of this, actually.

From what I've seen, RBW treats Mamamoo pretty well, and even defends them.

Mamamoo's company seems to be doing well, I think, and I don't even follow them.

Didn't think of them! They seem to have good comebacks and emphasise vocals which is good.

BlockBerry Creative are handling Loona really well so far, they can afford to treat them and they all seem super comfortable~~

I hear so much about them, how are they doing popularity wise?

The company is as big as the management structure it requires, The bigger the company is that means more problems to solve.

Me when I was thinking about this beforehand. YG can handle the sausage party of Big Bang, Winner and Ikon all at once but can't keep hold of one girl group? Mess.

And I would bet money that JYP is a perv.

I always thought Mina was popular for her looks. Dahyun...idk. I thought she would be popular because I always see her doing fanservice/the most so I assumed that would get her fans.

This is true but I'm sure these issues don't arise because the companies are just so overwhelmed with work and not enough staff to deal with it. If anything JYP and SM are doing this to themselves by releasing so much crap back to back.

YG don't care.

RBW for sure.

Mamamoo is extremely talented, but the staff behind them enable Mamamoo to express and maximize those talents.

Their CEO, Kim Do Hoon, is one of the most respected producers in the industry and he has put together all of their title tracks. He hasn't had a single miss to this point and they're fortunate to have such an amazing in-house producers who understands what songs best fit all four members.

Not only that. He allows Mamamoo to have tremendous input and involvement in their music. All four members have written, or in some cases, even composed their own songs.

And last but not least, he rules with a gentle palm and not an iron fist. All the people who accuse Mamamoo of being extra should know that their boss is even more extra and many of their crazy (awesome) ideas come from him. This is a man that was prepared to lecture Mamamoo if they weren't turnt up enough for their 1cm Taller than You stages.

In other words, he lets Mamamoo be themselves and treats them like precious gems, not a disposable commodity.

RBW isn't a perfect company, but they've done something right for Mamamoo to be as successful as they have been while still earning the love and respect of the members.

RBW even received a commendation from the Korean government for being such an efficiently run company.

Gfriend and Source Music have done great as well. No coincidence that there's a strong tie between RBW and SM.

They've done phenomenally well for their groups.

Hopefully BBC (Block Berry Creative), the company of LOONA and subsidiary of Polaris Entertainment. It's kind of premature as the group hasn't debuted yet but I think is very original and well thought their pre-debut project which tries to showcase the talent and individuality of each member before debuting them and embracing full promotions. So it already looks like something promising in terms of man management.

Source Music

WM (they pulled JinE out of Oh My Girl the moment they found out she had anorexia (and it wasn't because of the company that she developed anorexia either). They didn't even include her in Oh My Girl's last comeback for Coloring Book because they didn't want to force her to resume activities)

I always think it's within the company's best interest to let members have input in their music/styling at a certaim point. Signing up as a trainee hoping to do X style of music and then being forced into Y concepts over and over after debut will make anyone miserable, which shows on stage.

I get what you're saying about WM but I think that's the bare minimum honestly.

How is Momo the least popular...?? 0u0plz.png she is of the most popular in the West and Japan, and she's one of the members with good public recognition in Korea (for example, anyone who follows KB - one of the most popular variety shows- would know who Momo is, since she is always mentioned there)... actually there isn't a big gap in popularity between the members in SK, even K-netz said that all Twice's members are stan attractors... Chaeyoung and Jihyo are a bit less popular than the others tho.

anyway, JYPE is doing a pretty good job with Twice overall

edit: mess, why did i got negged? LOL
