While it’s clear the season 2 of Produce 101 was more popular in Korea (as well as Wanna One being more popular than IOI), it seems that internationally it’s hard to tell? What’s your take on this? Which season did better among ifans? Why do you think this specific season did better among ifans?

In two days after pre-orders were open, Ktown4u recorded 25k pre-orders. That's a website international fans use. Chinese fans also pre-ordered another 25k.

That's 50k.

They already have 2 fan-meets scheduled in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

I think S2's popularity is underrated internationally.

Season 2 is more popular internationally as well, but the opinions are more mixed they have more fans but a lot more haters too because Samuel and Jonghyun didn't end up in the group so a lot of potential i-fans get mad and turns into haters. Haters are always louders than fans it's why you can think they're not that popular internationally if you don't follow them closely

I personally preferred season one, but logically speaking season two did better. Because season one did so well, season two could do even better - since the show had been successful, people were anticipating the second season. Also, since it was the boys version, they had even more fangirls because as we all know boy groups will always have explosive fandoms and most of the time their fandoms are much, much bigger than that of girl groups, both domestically and internationally.

So season two. I liked both seasons but I am biased towards I.O.I~
