Overwatch Loot Boxes

This is really just a random rant on how loot boxes are basically awful.

I literally spend almost two hours playing quick play to get one loot box. Each match provides around 2k-3k xp (unfair, even when I do amazing the highest I'll get is 3.5k).

Now, imagine spending two hours playing this game only to open a loot box full of common/rare items. Well, none of us have to imagine, because it happens all the time. I know they've fixed the duplicate issue, but now it's so easy to get sprays/voice lines that we never needed.

Conclusion: if Blizzard is going to make me earn these things, they should at least give me more than 3k when I play quick play. I feel like before the anniversary event, I was earning a good 3.5-5k per match.

Quick play is a waste of time and playing competitive gives more experience and isn't as pointless, if you're only playing for the lootboxes I understand your frustration but other seasons it was even worst lol

all games are a waste of time

:o It really takes you two hour to get one? I'm sorry... that must suck. I'm a little faster, I can average about one an hour because I tend to group up with people. That 20% bonus is king. If you have friends who play, drag them on with you and group up to get that extra XP!

At least there's less dupes now. I think I've only gotten one since they changed the algorithm.

Anyway, the event is still young! Hopefully you have better luck on your next boxes, OP!

I was a bit angry earlier, let me clarify:

I do love Overwatch as a game, I actually only bought a PS4 so that I could play it. I do play competitive as well to earn 3 quick plays worth of xp, but those matches are so long & tedious. Plus I usually play Mercy, and it sucks when the team always needs healing yet never protects me whilst I heal them. Regardless of how well I play, Mercy guarantees me at least 4k.

Quick play is easier for me because I main Widowmaker & I'm decent with her (Overwatch is my first fps so I'm not pro-level with one of the hardest & most fragile characters to use in the game). If I take her into competitive and do bad, it's my fault for our team underperforming and losing.

Kind of a lose-lose situation. I'm good with other characters too, but since nobody ever wants to play a (good) healer in competitive, I step up.

Well, your post truly exemplifies the core essence of something being worthless and a waste of time.

As Bertrand Russell states "Time you enjoy wasting is not a waste of time" and as such games are a good example however I don't think quick play gives you the best experience in Overwatch as you don't have the same rules nor the same seriousness as the competitive mode which pushes to a more enjoyable level which you can truly enjoy just for the sake of it (contrary to playing to get the season rewards).

I know competitive mode isn't very friendly when you want to play for leisure or just try new characters but I feel like they could add a mode similar to competitive but without the rating system so people don't stress out as much. The other alternative to make the game less tedious is to play with friends whether is quick play or competitive.

P.S. I'm just playing lucio ball now lol
