Just out of curiosity: What's your favorite book ever?

Tell me your favorite book ever and if you feel like sharing, put a quote of it.

My favorite book ever is Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.

Quotes:

“I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what.
- Atticus Finchâ€

“Sometimes the Bible in the hand of one man is worse than a whisky bottle in the hand of (another)... There are just some kind of men who - who're so busy worrying about the next world they've never learned to live in this one, and you can look down the street and see the results.â€
- Atticus Finch

“We know all men are not created equal in the sense some people would have us believe- some people are smarter than others, some people have more opportunity because they're born with it, some men make more money than others, some ladies make better cakes than others- some people are born gifted beyond the normal scope of men.
But there is one way in this country in which all men are created equal- there is one human institution that makes a pauper the equal of a Rockefeller, the stupid man the equal of an Einstein, and the ignorant man the equal of any college president. That institution, gentlemen, is a court.â€

- Atticus Finch

Oh my God, OP. I came in to comment To Kill A Mocking Bird and totally lost it when I saw that you also shared it. Honestly, this is making me so happy because whenever I tell people my favorite book of all is To Kill A Mocking Bird, they just chuckle and say it's so basic. BASIC?!?! B*tch where, its being a high school book does not discount the fact that this wonderful literary work is an eternal masterpiece.

It's funny because I first read it in elementary school, and back then I had no clue about all of the social justice presented. All I knew was that Scout Finch was my spirit animal. Now this thread makes me want to re-read the book for the millionth time.

The Shadowhunter chronicles by Cassandra Clare. It's really multiple series, but they exist in the same universe, and some characters make appearances in several series. My favorite of the series is The Infernal devices, and my favorite book is Clockwork Prince.

Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

It's so beautiful but it's simple at the same time. As someone who typically reads fantasy series (serieses?), I was surprised at how much I loved this book since it's not fantasy and it's stand alone.

If you haven't read it then I beg you to go to your nearest bookstore/library and get it immediately :rlytearpls:

To Kill A Mockingbird is a good book, but I'm disappointed in Atticus after reading Go Set A Watchman. If only it didn't have any sequel.

It's difficult to choose one among many books I enjoy the most. I love 1984 (George Orwell), The Garden of Eden (Ernest Hemingway), The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini), The Alchemist (and most of Paulo Coelho's books), and from this year reading, my most favourite is still A Little Life (Hanya Yanagihara).

I love this book sooooooo much, Atticus Finch is my hero! This book made me go to Law School. It anything but basic, maybe oesn't have action, horror or romance but has such an important and deep message.

Funny enough Atticus Finch was chosen as the best hero of all times.

Maybe if they read it a few years later and understand it better they'll see the beauty of it?

It isn't actually a sequel, for what I heard it's the first draft of To Kill A Mockingbird.

Ha, I know right? It will always be my favorite, and we desperately need more Atticus Finch's in this world today tbh. It's sooooo cool that the book inspired you to pursue Law. Best of luck to you! So far the closest I ever get to recreate something from the book is wearing a ham costume for Halloween a long time ago. Haha

Why?

because Robin Johnson (?) whatever his name was being tried and convicted because of that stepped-on-cockroach of a girl and her rotten eggplant of a father

it was too frustrating for me to read

I understand that, but I think Harper Lee tried to show how it was back then and did it beautiful she actually based it in official cases and Atticus is based on her father.

What frustrated me a little was when Tom Robinson run away from prison and got shot and killed, at first I didn't understand it why he run when he had another shot but looking at the time was set, he probably would be sentenced again no matter what.

I have three!

Lord of the Flies by William Goulding - â€œMaybe there is a beast… maybe it's only us.†(If you haven't read this book I highly recommend it, its amazing, but its an allegory so you have to really think about the meaning~)

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky- â€œThings change. And friends leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody.†(Another highly recommended book, my introvert heart practically sang while reading it)

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald- â€œIt takes two to make an accident.†(If you haven't read this yet...)
