This is what I hate about growing up

He was deciding between transferring into two different universities, one that was local and then one that is out of state. No clue why he chose the out of state one when the one out of state really isn't that great. All I know now is I'm probably gonna see one of my closest friends maybe like once or twice a year.

This is what I hate about growing up. My friends are getting jobs in other states. I mean we live in such a great state (California southern California to be more specific, so even better) I have no clue why anyone would want to leave! All I know is I'm losing a lot of friends. They all are like, "oh we will still see each other!" They come out to California to visit maybe the first year or so, but then they meet people in their new state and it's all over at that point. I just don't get why one would ever want to leave the beach. Or even LA for that matter! I'm just bitter I guess.

Is anyone else dealing with losing friends to the grown up life?

It's definitely a bummer, but it's just a part of life. Some people like to set their roots where they are, and to others nothing is more exciting than "somewhere else." You need to make sure you pursue the things you want, and take social chances, much like your friends may be doing in their own way. I think it's important you stay positive, because the true worst part of growing up is when you look back in regret.
