I don't know but BTS sure pulled this off

As you know I never was truly a BTS fan until this year. I always felt some parts of them were overrated (their dancing - sync dances are common in K-Pop for many years now, their vocals would benefit from some improvement, the School trilogy days with those lyrics scarred me and the whole thug hep hap image stuck with me though i always found them musically good)

When Spring Day came out and I saw that girl do a guzheng cover of Blood Sweat and Tears, I realized how impactful their music can be and started picking up interest in the group (though I was always updated by their latest work because their comebacks were so hyped)

I knew BTS and their music...or so i thought

As I went through the Bangtan hole I reconnected with an old friend of mine who I knew liked the group asking her for recs on what to listen and watch. I liked Kpop before she did and she used to be more into ggs. So I ended up asking her how she got into BTS and she said it's because they pretty much saved her life.

This friend of mine grew up in a really good household with parents with high expectations. She went to good schools, good grades, lots of friends and looked perfect outwardly. She was in grad school and was in a bad point emotionally (no one knew) to the point she wasn't  eating and sleeping well. She was just uncertain and worried all the time, and at times felt purposeless. She isnt really into Kpop as deep as I am and mostly saw it as entertainment (not that invested). So one time she was really down again she played kpop lyric videos on youtube for some music. But she said one time as she writing her paper and she was on the verge of giving up on life, it was so random that BTS Tomorrow lyric video autoplayed.

It was the right song she needed that moment. She said she doesnt know what would have happened to her now if she never stumbled upon that song. She said it felt as if someone knew the exact feeling she had and put it in lyrics.

Now she almost done with grad school and a pretty huge BTS fan. She still says their songs give her solace and comfort (she regularly listens to the Agust D mixtape and is a sucker for BTS b sides) she really inspired me to go through BTS b-sides and a lot of them are more than 'good bops'..they're actually songs with a message.

Are BTS the only group who writes such songs? No. But they churn out so much material like such that you can really tell they really want to send out a statement. It's not a one off, random thing for them but ingrained in their identity as a group.

More than breaking records, I feel this has always BTS goal: for their music to be heard, for it to live on and have an effect on people's lives. Concepts, catchy music and flashiness can only take you so far.

So BTS may not have the best vocals, and may not be visual slays accdg to some users  here but they are touching people's lives with the songs they make (members contribute to their songs) and I feel that's one of the best legacies an idol group can have.

I have been in this kpop world from 2008 and BTS the only group that made me listen to their whole discography and read all of their lyrics. The reason why I am so attach to their music.

This is beautiful, thank you. I agree completely, their lyrics and musical talents are what makes them stand out for me as well.

They are personal and raw, Ive read that Suga said the reason he agreed to continue at Big Hit and be an idol was he wanted his music to be heard. This is the most important thing to them.

It's like you almost write about me. I was casual with Kpop before, I got so deep into BTS when we got into a big problem within our family, I was never as depressed as I was that time. Tomorrow is the song that change that for me, that's the first point, Never mind then comes to me like a wrecking ball. Thus how I stan Suga lol.

Their entire discography is like a diary, fighting songs, happy songs, love, they have everything

I never invested in a group like this. Their lyrics, their passion, their playfulness, it's funny how they could both make me cry and laugh.

Bad things always happen and maybe will happen again in the future, just cherish this moment and keep going on

I grew up listening to hardcore rap in a bad environment (drugs, violence etc...) and I discovered KPOP last year through Agust D AKA Suga AKA Min Yoongi and I've never thought that I would be a fan of "a bunch of male koreans that wear makeup and are prettier than women" as a man. LOL. I have been listening to KPOP nonstop since August 2016 but BTS is definitly my favorite group by far.
They are all so talented, cool and funny + their lyrics are 100 % relatable. Suga was obviously my bias but I learned to appreciate all of them equally. BTS is more than just a KPOP group to me.
What happened to me ? ahmagahplz.png
