Korean female "Rock" bands?!

they actually exist! but they are a very small independent community that is hard to find,..

they can't appear on TV, they can't sell merchandises, they probably can never get CFs,..

unfortunately Koreans are not that open minded when it's comes to different music genres, specially HipHop & Rock music, unless they go chimerical or mix out with Pop, acts like CNBlue & Day6 & AOA Black are Pop rock not the pure genre,..

female rock bands have it 10 times more harder..

in the Korean rock community people look down on female rock bands, if a female guitarist or rock singer wanted to pursue a career in Korean Rock industry they get told things like this: "i think ballad fits you better,.. maybe you should try to pursue an idol career,.. electric guitar is not for you! try dancing,.. this genre is for men you gonna struggle etc,.." < in fact people prejudge female rock bands even before listening to their music despite the fact that some female rock bands are better than some male rock bands but people are still too blinded by the stereotypes and prejudges unfortunately..

maybe this short documentary can help understand a bit,

Amber likes rock and indie rock. I really wanted to see a station where she got to drum, or SM pulled out all their idols who can play instruments and did something interesting. Not just a long rock instrumental and from people you hardly ever get to see other sides of rlytearpls.png

Not surprised, rock as a whole isn't in over there and I'm not surprised that female rock bands get those stereotypes thrown at them.

The market just doesn't have the flexibility that would allow for a BABYMETAL (which has no Korean equivalent. Dreamcatcher isn't the same genre) or even like a BANDMAID to thrive, even underground.

Yeah, it sucks that the Korean general public isn't open to more types of music, male rock bands can get by like Day6 and FTisland but they have no interest in female bands at all and it sucks that there's not even one female rock band that hit big. Are female bands in general successful? The only one I can think of is Wonder girls.

Doesn't count I know, but they would've slayed as rock band tbh

My diverse queens.

Wonder girls is a legendary idol group' being in the Kpop industry long enough of course they can hit big with a band concept cause they had the public recognition .. AOA did the same with AOA Black band concept which didn't last long lol,..

but the actual female rock bands like the one i shared up there are ain't idols so they don't have public recognition, plus they don't get support what so ever because the previous older generation of female rock bands have disappeared! therefore the younger female rock bands don't have a sunbae to look up to!

in fact there was a Rock survival program just like SMTM and of course non of the female rock bands win lol' how can they win when the judge panel are all male rock stars from the older generation lol?!

Wow that's really shocking.

It sucks because female idol groups have it tough because there are too many popular girl groups whereas female rock bands have it even tougher because there are no other popular girl groups. wthplz.png

definitely pop rock or idol-band, more like the Korean ver of Babymetal ,,

Dreamcatcher don't play any instruments. they're not a band. As for them being Metal? LOL, No. They're Pop/Rock or Indie-Pop at best. The music's just not there to classify them as Rock/Metal. Just because K-pop stans say that DC are Korea's version of Babymetal, does not automatically  make it so. In fact, there's every chance of them being bottled at a Metal festival, if they were to perform their current songs on YT at one.

I agree with you. They are not same.. they more like BiSH. From the genre they are totally different.. babymetal has a unique song, they use different genre of metal in every song.. there are nu metal (karate), frogmetal(tales of destenies), vikingmetal(meta taro), blackmetal(sis anger), etc...

So please stop saying they are korean ver of babymetal, and what makes me so confused is dreamcatcher fans said DC is a fusion of Gfriend and Babymetal. What makes them think like that-_-

They more like BiSH with more powerful dance
