TVXQ vs Tohoshinki

album and single-wise, which do you prefer - TVXQ's Korean discography, or Tohoshinki's Japanese discography? what do you think is their best Korean album and their best Japanese album? here's a link to a list of their entire discog to help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TVXQ_discography

personally it's hard to choose. pre-split, I think their Japanese albums (after the first two more unsteady ones) were superior to their Korean counterparts, but post-split, I think their Korean albums excel their Japanese ones (as much as I also like them).

obviously both have their pros and cons and are overall excellent but I wanna hear some OPINIONS

discuss y'all and play nice

I always had in mind that their Japanese releases were more solid than the Korean ones, I always could find more songs in those to just make a playlist and put it on repeat. However that all changed this year with the release of "Tense" which in my personal biased opinion is absolutely amazing, each and every one song in that album.

Catch Me was a very good album lol

idk their japanese material has been very :'( lately

it rules...

I still love their Japanese albums a lot, but I just think their Korean albums as a duo are a lot more cohesive and have a very specific concept. the Japanese ones, while containing major bops, are a little more meandering and I get thrown off by hearing Korean songs suddenly in Japanese and presented in a different context, personally

TENSE was genuinely a wonderful experience for me. it's rare to anticipate an album so much and then end up having it actually exceed your expectations tenfold. I couldn't have asked for better

I think TONE is a solid album, but besides that one, I think their post-split Japanese albums are a little less experimental than their Korean ones and tracklist-wise they can seem a little collage-y. Catch Me, KYHD and TENSE are really wonderfully and carefully put together albums

Agree up to 80%

I love their EPIC songs (Maximum, Rising Sun...). Lately they have Something and Spellbound and they are somewhat... groundbreaking in a, for me, musically stagnant kpop scene, which I appreciate a lot.

I think pre split j album is better than k album but post split k album is better than j album. Especially tense/spellbound which is imo on par with o, mirotic and t albums. And these 3 of their old albums are the best 3 presplit....

as much as I like O and Mirotic I think they're a bit overhyped, I can't listen to them all the way through like I do with T, The Secret Code, Catch Me, KYHD or TENSE. they have some amazing standout tracks, but as overall albums they're not as impressive as people make out, imo. I think people get carried away because Mirotic itself is such an incredible single, and O is an amazing title track too. I think Rising Sun is a better album than O

Its like you are reading my fucking mind.................................Agree completely with what you say. And again "tense" for me is a masterpiece, we always go on and on about how many good albums they have, personally I like all of them some more some less but it is always such a great feeling to be pleasantly surprised with yet ANOTHER gem in their discography. I am mostly a SNSD fan for many other factors besides their music, but I can honestly say that I could be a fan of TVXQ JUST for their music and it would be enough. Of course as with SNSD I am a TVXQ fan for many other reasons also (Real broheroes :datass:)

JUST music wise, sound entertainment etc. I personally like both Japanese and Korean pre and post split. But specifically, I guess I prefer ... it's a hard decision to make cause I like so many of their songs.

I think I'm gonna have to say Korean for both pre- and post-split. The only japanese album I can say that I really loved was The Secret Code though overall for Japanese releases I'd have to say that I prefer their pre-split albums, their recent Tohoshinki releases hasn't wowed me the same the way their TVXQ releases have. (I haven't actually yet listened to Tree though so who knows, I might change my mind).

Pre-split, i liked more their japanese albums.

They had some great tracks and experimented a lot, but also quite the amount of fillers, which is way i think i prefer their post-split music overall (still pretty close).

Post- split, i definitely prefer their korean albums, Catch Me, Tense and KYHD are probably my favourite TVXQ albums of all time together with DB5K's Best Selections

I kind of hated Time though lol

Catch Me, KYHD, and TENSE are like the holy trinity. they're def my faves... throw TONE in too...

a lot of people dislke TIME and while I think it was weak compared to their other albums, it still has plenty of songs I like on it so I don't mind ;___;

I just like their music in general it all goes in the same playlist anyway

but I guess because I tend to listen to the live albums a lot I'll go for the Japanese ones as their tours there always impressed me more I want live albums from their Korean tours too -_-
