Isn't it kinda obvious already...?

A lot of people drop old gen groups (especially when they're on hiatus) for a rookie/new gen group because they're "fresh" and "unique". So when the old gen group makes a comeback they don't get as much support as they used to... (ngl I have dropped old gen groups for new gen groups...)

it's somewhat true for other markets but I've never seen a market that moves as fast as kpop. That's why you have groups making comebacks every year (sometimes more than once a year) because they fear being left behind. In the West, singers can go several years without releasing an album.

honestly it always kind of baffled me that people are willing to change so easily. I haven't seen this extreme in any other industry.

Actually i'm always used to people being a bit conservative, clinging to the things they know they like, rookies still need to prove themselves etc.. but in kpop it seems very different.

It surprised me too at first. The only reason I dropped the group was because the members were really problematic. From time to time I might lose interest in a old gen group but I usually end up gaining interest in them again. I know it's not the same for everyone though.

the Kpop culture is based more on "trends" which are very short lived,, because rather then promoting their idols as 'musicians' idols are promoted more as "products" so people keep looking for new products ..

meanwhile the actual artists & singers like "baek ji young" can never be forgotten even if she didn't release something in years, because she's ain't an idol' she's a singer who's promoted as a singer not a "trend" or a "product" also her songs are very memorable unlike idol songs which are mostly easy to listen & easy to forget since they are mostly just "trendy" and a lot of Korean Kpop fans stan visual & personalities not actual music! therefore they can easily move on from older idols to the "trendy" younger ones ..

the Korean Kpop fans are different than i-fans in that aspect <

the real problem is (and a female singer said it but i don't remember who and also sechskies jiwon) for an idol to be successful nowadays they need to be on the public's eye as much as they can and companies ends up trining them to be some kind of 'character' just to sell, and they seem happy 24/7 and  everyone is suddenly allowed to criticize an idol and they are all "I LOVE THE IDOL LIFE, MY COMPANY IS A FAMINLY" but in reallity they are sleep deprived, have mental issues, health issues. it's kind of sad

That's true about the whole world no matter where you go. You think people would still be using iPhone 3 til this day if other phone brand companies weren't coming out with something better and bigger? Of course not. It's what makes this world go round.

Things turnover so quickly in the S Korea pop music industry. It's crazy. They will never have a Beyoncé or even a Kylie Minogue at this rate. They are way too youth obsessed. It's sickening. Plus, they don't appreciate when the artist tries something too different. Like when Lee Hyori tried to grow with her recent comeback. It's depressing.
