How did you get in to K-Pop in the 1st place?

What song made you definitely an K-Pop fan?

As for me, my mother loved watching K-Drama since I could remember and I liked watching them with her. Which got me wanting to know more about the OST that the many K-Drama had since it was always beautiful. I would always go to Asian stores with my mom since they had K-Drama VHS and Korean Albums. At that Asian store they played a lot of K-Pop from the 90's at the time, year 2000 and 2001 which had all catchy tunes that got me in to K-Pop casually. I still remember makes a friend at the store and that friend ends up being my best friend still this day.

Goodbye My Love was the drama that got me into liking the OST it had.

The song that definitely made me a K-Pop fan was SNSD's Into the New World that they performed in Music Bank on 2007.08.12 and I still remember watching it at my best friend's house on their TV since they had cable channels that had Korean shows with English subtitle (at the time I did not know it was KBS World).

In 2015 I found "Baby Goodnight" by GD&TOP on Spotify by accident when searching for another song and I liked it even tho I didn't know it was kpop. A few months later I listened to the album and liked it and so I checked out the MV for "Knock out". I thought GD oppa was real cute

From thereon I learned about Bigbang, then Exo, then later on Red Velvet and Twice.

A friend of mine used to send me Sistar MVs and I liked their music a lot, but I didn't get into k-pop until she sent me this performance and told me they were Sistar's sister group.

I liked their performances a lot, so I ended up following their debut, and the rest is history.

I remember looking around on youtube in July 2009, and ended up on a music video of a group. (Wonder Girls)

Did some research and found some information about one of the girl who had to leave the group, and debuted in another group in June 2009. with Cube Entertainment. Found their Debut M/V. You know who it is :)

This song was officially the first KPOP song I ever heard, and made me fall in love with KPOP. I Became a 4nia right away, and always will be. :)

The first Kpop song I heard was Abracadabra by BEG. I rmb that I took my sister's iPod and I heard it on her playlist then I searched up the song and I listened to it (but I was slightly confused lol).

Then she liked Big Bang and she showed me Haru Haru. I remember liking some Big Bang songs in 2009/2010ish. Then my sister liked IU, so naturally I had to hear some of IU's songs. So up until the end of 2010, I only knew a couple Kpop songs but I had my own playlist for them.

In 2011, my sister watched Dream High bc of IU and she made such a fuss about it that I started watching too. After Dream High, I started to really like IU and Suzy and in turn, Miss A. Miss A was my first bias group and Suzy was my first UltBias.

I liked Miss A and I would watch some vids of other groups but I never really got interested in them. Then because of Suzy, I watched Invincible Youth S2 and that prompted me to like SNSD and it's just been everything else from then on.

I started listening to Japanese music when I was around 11 years old and at the same time SNSD's Gee was a huge hit. That was the first kpop song I had in my mp3-player, but for the next 10 years, it was pretty much only Japanese music I listened to.

When EXO's Overdose got released, I was jamming the hell out of it. At the same time I enjoyed SNSD's discography a lot but still I didn't get any deeper to kpop than that.

Two years ago I got hooked to Kdrama but I didn't get into the music yet. But then half a year ago I met a new friend who was a desperately huge kpop fan and... Here I am.

I have heard about Kpop since 2005, the first kpop song i listened to was "Wonder Boy" by Super Junior.

We used it as our music for our intramurals presentation back in high school. But it didn't really make me listen to more kpop songs, it was just a music that is good enough for dancing.

I used to hate kpop a lot and think of the groups as copycats of the western boybands that I was a fan of like Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. I was also one of the people who stereotyped them as men wearing make up and dressed really weird.

Flash forward to 2009, i watched G Dragon's "Heartbreaker" music video. Again, I wasn't that impressed. I even thought that his name 'Gdragon' is sounded really silly (until i found the meaning later on).

In 2010 for the first time there was a Kpop song that i finally liked. It's Taeyang's Wedding dress. Because I really like Hip hop and R&B, it was automatically my favorite song and was on replay on my mp3 player. I started researching about him and his songs, and later on found out that he belongs in a group with GDragon. I started listening to BIGBANG songs only because of Taeyang.

in 2012 in their alive era, I hear their song 'BLUE' for the first time. And that's what completely turned me from a Kpop hater to a Kpop fan. I really did not believe a group like BIGBANG could come up with a beautiful song. I started following them and learning more about them, listening to their old songs, learned about their achievements, history and all that stuff and next thing I know I became a VIP.

The uniqueness of their concept, the way they approach music, and their overall musical prowess is what made me stay as their fan.

I was a J-pop fan in the late 90s/early 00s and I knew a few K-pop acts from there (BoA, HOT, Shinhwa). outside of those (and bc it was difficult to download music back then) I didn't get into K-pop itself until 2012.

I knew the odd song here or there previously, like Gee, but it was Knock Out by GD&TOP and Nu ABO by f(x) that got me hooked
